Trunk Lid Torsion Rods (Plastic Bushing?)

My trunk lid hinges don't work properly. I "think" I know the problem, but not sure how to fix it. I believe there are two issues. First, it looks like the torsion rods should bend under the hinges, but mine are wedged against the side of the hinges. Second, I believe that I remember there being plastic bushings on the end of the rods. I have none.

Am I correct that the rods should bend under the hinges, and that there should be plastic bushings on the rods for the hinges to ride on? If so, where can I source these bushings, and is there a method for getting it all back in place?

Yes, the bars go under the hinges. Without pictures it's hard to know how you have them installed. Vans Auto sells the sliders (you called them bushings). Note the different years.

Thanks JayBee. After posting my question, I figured out that the plastic pieces are called "sliders" as you said. And, of course, everyone sell them lol. I have a pair coming from Mancini. Not sure how the heck I'm going to get them on the rods AND under the hinges. It's awfully tight!

I started my build in 2016 (or maybe 2018....it all runs together after a while). Anyway, this site worked great at that time, and everyone was super nice AND helpful. I had to put the entire project in storage for the past year plus while my wife and I downsized and moved. I'm back at it, and have noticed this site is struggling. Guess I was kinda hoping it would "come back" before I jumped ship. Also, I'm kinda old school and suck when it comes to change. But, it looks like you are correct. Time to move on. Thanks again for answering my post. I learn something new everytime I work on this car. I'm afraid by the time I get it done, they will outlaw gas engines.
