car keeps running.....

sometimes when i put it into park and turn off the car the engine will keep running on. why does it do this?

a short term (very short obviously) to this issue till you get it fixed.....   


Turn the car off in "gear",  then shift to Park, and extract key.

Won't it be something to do with your iginition? Maybe the steering column?
I know the slapstik steering columns have some kind of linkage, maybe you have the wrong column? 0.02c  :-[

if you mean dieseling , there are 4 causes ,
- idle speed to high
- incorrect timing
- mixture too rich 
- sometimes  too hot spark plugs , use a colder plug

your timing is too far advanced or the gap is incorrect on your plugs

I have not heard the erm "dieseling" in a long time.

my car would do that if I ran cheap gas in it. Went and filled up with premium or higher octane and fixed it every time.

well i use premium which is 91 octane and that is the highest that i can get here and its already expensive at $1.149/litre

Usually if their buying gas by the liter, I assume their in Canada.  That about what I pay for the good stuff but mine is 110 proof!   :drool:
