How to make spark plug wires???
« on: September 26, 2002 - 02:55:56 AM »
I am doing my dad a favor and ordered another set of boots for his wires. His wires are way to long and I was wondering what do you do to get the boots on? First I know you cut the old end off, Then do you use a razor and cut around the wire and feed the boot on then crimp the end on??? Any help would be great.

Cut off the old ends, use WD-40 to slide the new boots on, Carefully open up the cut of connecters , strip off about 3/4" of the insulation & expose the core , fold the core back so it touches the connecter & recrimp the connecter back on , use a good crimper  ;)

easily done. DO USE THE LUBRICANT before sliding the boot on. Even spit will do (not recomended but it works) And don't forget the old carpenters saying "measure twice & cut once".  i ruined a good coil wire once,
