Need help with pricing!
« on: July 20, 2005 - 05:20:18 PM »
I am facing a tough decision on selling my 70 Dodge Challenger.  I have never ever seen a car with as good a sheetmetal condition as this one.  The car spent its whole life in Glendale Calif. and it shows.  Very straight, gorgeous paint in original B5 with B5 interior.  The only thing I changed is the top to white instead of black as original.  It is a 318 car which I took the motor out of and have and put in a nicely built 340 with Edel heads etc with all forged internals.  New AC compressor, clutch etc and even had new AC lines made with the original metal fittings - looks great!  Anyway, the car drives and runs great but I am faced with selling it to make room in the garage so to speak.  I have a standing offer of $25,000 for the car as it sits with the original motor too from a friend I met through local Mopar events.  Does this sound like a good price?  I know its a 318 car but I just hate to let this one go, it is easily the best shape car (including new ones) I have ever owned or seen.  Any input or advice would be appreciated!!

Welcome to the board!  It's not a real RT, so I would think 25 sounds about right....although with that body someone might pay more.  Is it an SE?

Yep, its and SE.  I just made it the way I wanted it to be.  There is absolutely no crust, no crud, no bends, no dings etc on the car.  The undercarriage, pinch welds etc are phenomenal.  I dont want to make a killing I just want to sell it at the right price.  The motor has about 400 miles on it.

Any pricing advice would be welcomed.

It's a beautiful car!  NADA says $27,333.

 :iagree: $25,000 is right.
If it were me I'd take it up an extra thousand or so over the NADA's price, if someone bites great! if not, then come down. May as well....

Lovely looking car, good luck.  :)

Being that its a 70, I would think closer to 30,000 would be alittle closer.   :dontknow:   That is a sweet car!!

Nice car.  I would be tempted to inch over the 25K range for a price tag, if I were you.

That is a really, really pretty car.  If you don't have to sell it, you probably shouldn't.  It'll be hard to replace it for anything nicer in that price bracket.  I'd think twice about it.  It's beautiful.

Nice car.  If you want to sell, e-mail me.

Your pricing looks fair in the market.  I think the R/T's are more sought after though.

Jim,
Too bad you don't have a bigger garage.  Your Challenger would look great next to Your Ragtop b'cuda.  Or better yet, trade the Chall towards my car and have a Challenger and 'Cuda ragtop in the garage :)

Hi Gary!  Whats funny is that I am now getting a bunch of resistance from my wife on selling it!  This from the person who I love dearest who tells me, "...all those Mopars are ugly, why not get something classy like an old street rod."   :eekbig:  I think she likes the Challenger cause it rides well, does 70 on the freeway with ease and gets almost 20mpg with the AC on.   If only she knew what it would be like to ride around in an old wooden/riveted iron framed 30something uptight car.

I would be interested in your car still, let me call you sometime Friday.

What size are the torq thrust 2's?  They look like 17's and what size tires were you able to mount on them.  Thanks.
