g-Machines

Hi Guys and Gals!

Recently I have been reading Popular HotRodding magazine. I know it is full of Chebbies and Phords, but the last yr. they have been doing more MOPAR related rides.

Anyway, I really like the idea of the new features on g-Machines. Older cars built up with newer tech. like fuel injection larger disc brakes, huge wheels and sticky rubber, very comfortable and funtional interiors, so that they not only run a fast 1/4 mi. but also steer and brake like sports cars. I think it's all pretty exciting and would love to have fun driving a Mopar like that! (A, B, E-body!)

I have noticed that not many Mopar guys I know locally talk about or even care about these g-machines, and so I was wondering if any of you have an interest in them or not? Maybe they were discussed here already, and I haven't seen the posts yet! I find them very  8)

I'm all for alot of the upgrades to bring some of these cars into the 2000's except the oversized wheels.  Fuel injection, oversized brakes and all the others are cool!  I may do it one day to something!

I love the g-machines!    Sorta building my Challenger as a g-machine.  Not going for the fuel injection but did put in some suspension mods, bigger brakes, and a Firm Feel steering box.  Also, eventually going to put in an aftermarket A/C system and either a Keisler overdrive transmission or a Gear Vendors unit.

Sounds pretty sweet dw ,

What suspension mods have you done to it? And did you notice a big improvement in handling?

if a miracle happens & I find some cash I intend to install a Dana 60 diff , weld the lower control arms & steering mounts use tubular upper control arms , install the rear sway bar & disc brakes, install C body tie rods & links  , develop a multiport EFI system for it
as it sits it is technically capable of running 270 MPH , not enough power to get there though
eventually I wanted to twin turbo it which solves the power problem , I would also like to turn it into a DayClona like Pam & Garys
ultimatly I would like to run some of the Pony Express runs with Ralley Mike such as the Sliver state in Nevada

Wedgehead,

It is still under construction...hope to get all together in the next few weeks.  I'll post my opinion on the setup then.

I haven't done anything exotic just went to 12" disc brakes using stock components, 1.125" front sway bar, 3/4" rear (for now), .96" Tbars, Firm Feel stage 3 box, 6 leaf ESPO springs, Edelbrock IAS shocks, rebuilt front end with Moog stuff.  I will use my 235/60-15, 255/60-15 tire combo for a while and might later switch to 17" wheels.  I don't want anything real harsh, just a nice stable handling weekend cruiser.

Now with this stiffer suspension I have a 500HP 440 going in.  Traction will likely be a nightmare with the reduced weight transfer but what am I to do.

I don't know , guys/ gals , I guess everyones got there own personal taste in the way they want their ride , but why mess with perfection?  :dontknow: It just seems kinda  , ,  sacraligous , doesn't it ? ( hope I spelled that right ! ) But I'll admit , I do love to put the mags and fat tires on 'em ! But strictly for better traction , see, yeah , thats it , traction! :burnout:

270MPH ??

Even with a twin turbo it would probably never get there.
