shocks will not affect  ride height , even gas shocks will only mildly change the stance by maybe 1/4 "
 Koni should be the best

Air shocks will give you height, but rides alittle stiff.     :dontknow:

 :iagree:

  Yeah,
It's a little stiff alright. The trouble is we all have different tastes as far as stance goes, so the air-shocks are a cheap fix. They get bashed as far as ride goes, but to be honest, not too many of my fillings have shaken loose.

We put new Heavy Duty leaf springs on our chally and after we finished the resto, we realized the back was sitting too low and the tires were rubbing on big bumps.  So we turned our QA1 shocks to their stiffest position to see if that would solve the problem...now THAT is a stiff ride! But, it didn't stop the problem.  We finally decided (right before Carlisle) to put the air shocks back on there and that did get us a couple of inches (we only needed about 1 inch).  In the end we figured the air shocks were the cheap fix, but not necessarily the right fix.  So, we ordered super stock springs and will get them put on this week.

Rev,
What is the difference between "super-stock" and " heavy duty"??? I believe the heavy duty was the 6 leaf springs for big blocks. Mine was about an inch or 2 too low for my taste too.

For ride height don't you just adjust the leaf springs to suit and correct the parts that are adjacent to match?  :dontknow:

I have Edelbrock IAS Performer shocks and there fantastic.

Did air shocks come on 'Cudas?  If so, where was the air valve for them?

I just bought a set of IAS edelbrocks for my rear. I havnt installed them yet and probably wont for several months, but I have heard good things and I got a good deal on them. As for the ride height, I talked to a spring company (I think it was springs & things) and they said that the best way to raise ride height without sacrificing ride quality is to go with a higher arched spring and they recommended a 2 inch higher arch for my specific needs. They also told me that the superstock springs will get the job done but they are extremely stiff and affect ride quality. Just like a lot of people here, I was running airshocks and I recommend them as the LAST alternative....unless you like hoping around in your seat when you drive on a somewhat bumpy road.

air shocks are a band aid approach, the rear crossmember is Not designed to hold the weight of the car & will pound out over time , the real solution is to rearc or install springs that hold the car higher
