I traded my hemi orange shaker hood 340 '71 Cuda for my brother's black 440 '71 Cuda in 1989. I paid $3500 for the hemi orange Cuda in 1986, so I just say I paid $3500 for the black Cuda.
1971 Cuda, black/black, 419 cu. in. 3G Hemi with twin turbos (build in progress), AlterKtion, Wilwood 12.19" disks, billet Rallye wheels

In '94, I paid 2K for the fibreglass shell, and another $1800.00 for the '74 Rallye Chally donor car.  The all fibreglass shell was tubbed, had a rollcage installed.  The '74 donated the interior and suspension, and a '70 Chally R/T gave up a 440/727/8.75 drivetrain.

I dropped 10K into the motor, had a Fireball rebuild kit installed in the torqueflite, and 3.91 suregrip put into the rearend.

Another 8K in body work to have the glass body stripped of its original B5 blue, prepped and painted 1995 Chrysler emerald green.

With add-ons, upgrades etc, have tacked on another 7-8K over the past 11 years.

so.......carry the one......somewhere around 30-35K since bought...and I wouldn't trade her for the world (a '71 Cudavert, sure..but not the world)

:eekbig: :eekbig: :eekbig: :eekbig:  That's definitely considered building an awesome car on the cheap side.

As for your prize, how about you give me the keys to your 'Cuda? ;D   Man, all you "old timers" are lucky that you had the opportunity to purchase these cars back in the '70s and earlier '80s.  I wasn't even born when a lot of you scored the great deals on your rides. :grinno:
:newsad: <----Me after realizing I didn't get the greatest deal of them all. :nopity:

For the 73 Rallye $3000 in April 03

For the 70 RT/SE  $3500 in January 94; poor guy was abandoned in March 93  :newsad:  and sold at a Police auction to the fellow i bought it from. Anyone from the Detroit area familiar with this address or neighborhood? Is it a likely place to abandon a car like this? :dontknow:

I paid $17000 AUD in feb 2003 which is about $13000 US for my 70 Chally 318 auto. It was in good cond but needed some exterior trim & since that time I yanked the 318 to fit a 360 & decided to paint the engine bay & well 1 thing led to another ................................ & it's still off the road.

My 70 rt R/T was given to me by my cousin.  ;D   He had three other cars that he was working on or ran.  I had to choose betwee the Cally or a 65' ragtop Mustang. :dontknow:  The Mustang has a 351 in it and still sits in my uncle's garage.  My father's brother has 20 cars that we know about.  We think that he has more cars in and around Philly.  I'm trying to talk him out of a 49' Dodge p/u that's hidden in one of his garages.  In the end I chose correctly.

No that is not a likely place to abandon a car.  Its downtown Royal Oak and only about 1 1/2 miles from Woodward!    :dontknow:

1982 $800.00 for matching #s 90,000 mile 72 Cuda 340 4 speed from original owners' son.(resitfied in 1984, needs redone now)
1984 $500.00 for matching #s 82,000 mile 74 Cuda 360 auto (needs quarters...etc)
1992 $3500.00 for matching #s 100,000+ 71 Cuda 340 4 speed (really rough) sold recently
Are we having fun Yet!
Keep in mind that typically, every 10 years prices double.  (electronics excluded)  So a Cuda in 1970 for 3500, would be worth(if like new) $42000.00 today!  So these prices aren't too far out of line.  Also, check out the price of a new(decent) car or truck today and compare!
Nothing like slick shifting a Mopar 4-Speed!

I paid $3,000 in June 1970 for a 318 auto barracuda .. sold it eight years later for $800.   January 2005 I bought a numbers matching 1970 340 cuda .. it had 93,000 miles on it and was totally restored..  I paid over 10 times what I paid for my first cuda.. was it worth it...HELL YEA!! We took it to the Mopar Nationals at Tree Tops Park in Davie, Florida in March. We had a great time meeting other mopar owners.  Planning on going to Carlisle in 2006.
