thermostat housings - B/RB and A differences?
« on: July 26, 2005 - 06:15:49 AM »
I just received a new water neck for my Mopar MP1intake and it appears to be a wider bolt pattern than the intake requires. There are several delaers selling water necks for 64' and up Mopar V8. Are the big block and small block water necks different?

I've only seen differences in the general shape or small details...I think all the muscle car year motors interchange as far as bolt pattern go.

hmmmm....interesting. Small blocks will mount on theintake and big blocks mount on top of the pump? That one in your sig looks larger than mine with the bolts spaced apart quite a bit. Is the Hemi an exception?

Not diff on a hemi, matter of fact the hemi water pump housing is a standard big block housing, and my hemi had a chrome t'stat housing that i swapped with one from my stock of housings due to a weeping problem.

so the big block and small block are the same? I called the vendor and he says he sells these all the time and never has any issues  :dontknow:

Any chance my aluminum MP1 intake is the culprit?

The t-stat housing he sent me measures 3 1/4" center-to-center. My MP1 intake measures 2.90" center-to-center. Can someone tell me who's right here? Check out the pic.

I guess in the case of the small block, we're really talking about the intake right? So if I had the original cast iron intake from the 340 I'd be in business?  Do you know what year they reduced the size of the housing?
