    has anyone used the Por-15 trunk and floor and trunk repair kit?

    I have two small hole in my trunk surronded by good metal. Would this work for that? I hate to replace the whole pannel  just for these small holes. Am I wrong?

    I don't know about the kit but there isnt any substitute for good welded metal repairs. Provided that there are no other areas you could put a screwdriver thru, I would cut out the damage areas, weld in patch panels, grind the welds down smooth, prime and paint. I used POR-15 on the bottom side of my new trunk floors but primed and acrylic-enameled the inside.

    Yah, what Mike said. You may only see a couple of holes, but some quick probing with a screwdriver or pick will show you just how thin that metal really is. Mike and I have been through this, as well as Rusty Cuda and a bunch of other guys. You might want to go all the way and do the trunk pans. It's a big PITA, but it's really the right way to do the job. With the value of these cars going up, it'll pay for itself in the long run.

    agreed.

    in the short term if youre gonna drive it, and just dont wanna make a show-trunk out of it "right NOW"
    you could layer in some fibreglass mat and resin...  to help hold whats left and to keep the fumes out of the trunk or stuff falling through the holes.....    not a permanent fix by any means, but a band-aid

    remember por15 only sticks to rusted surfaces and wont hold onto good non rusted metal. I would cut that out and replace whole pan, weill be better in long run, you dont know how thin rest of floor is, if it werent too thin you could replace metal just around holes and then por15 the rest.

    WHAT IS THE BEST SURFACE ON WHICH TO PAINT POR-15?
    POR-15 likes rusted surfaces best. Seasoned metal and sandblasted metal are also good. POR-15 does not adhere well to smooth, shiny surfaces, but will adhere well to those surfaces with the proper preparation.

    But if you use marine clean then metal ready on bare metal it should work.Right?

    I was going to go with por 15 also until I found out that it will come off non rusted metal. Also heard it would stick, I just dont know. But what I for sure know is that it has no shelf life [if you open the can you better use it] which is something that I do need so I went with zero rust.

    It will stick to new metal if prepped right, I've used a lot of it & have had a few issues with sticking, peeled my whole trunk lid off in one piece, don't know what I did wrong, but it's on the inside of my new quarters,which I stripped of primer(to find rust underneath)then used the metal ready to etch the put on the por 15, definatly finicky stuff, but once on it is TOUGH!
    for shelf life put a piece of saran wrap under the lid & make sure it's tight!
    they do mean it when they say follow the instructions, even with the few problems I've had(probably user error) I like the stuff, would maybe like to try eastwoods stuff or zero rust on the next car, supposed to be easier to use?????????

    I have also used POR-15 alot and love it. As long as you prep it JUST LIKE THEY SAY it sticks great. Even on smooth surfaces as long as they have been blasted.

    But it won't stick if you don't use their metal ready. Found that out the hard way. Just like Rusty said his did, mine peeled off in sheets.

    I do agree with the guys on repairing it right. Even though you have only 2 holes there by the looks in the pix that metal is pretty thin. Will probably be difficult to weld up without blowing holes in it. Your best bet is to replace anything that is rusted.

    I can tell you by experience you sometimes spend more time patching things then you do cutting out the whole mess and welding in a complete panel.

    Those are the only holes you SEE.  From the looks of the pics, the metal is very weak.  I'd replace the whole panel.

     I think your right as long as I'm doing it do it right. I talked with a guy from the por store and the largest hole they recommend to span is 1 inch.
