mostly it is the hydrauic prssure  combined with the springs in the drum brakes
master or booster could be a problem or maybe the propotioning valve is restricting some pressure  from returning to the master

Well I just installed the new booster today and that is what is happening.  Push on the brakes and the pedal won't come back up!   :gripe:  Looks like I'm not going to the car show tomorrow until I get this figured out.   :dontknow:    Maybe I got a bad brake booster??   :pissed:

I remeber testing brake boosters by pushing down on the pedal when the car is not running. Then start the car and the pedal should drop a bit. If this dosn't happen then the booster isn't working. Give your rear brakes a good look. Make sure you have no air in the lines. Otherwise if might be a proportioning valve.
