Is that the piece that pops through the firewall for the A/C? Don't know the name but yeah.  ;D

No, it's not an expansion valve.

Hey JS, is this something for an optional item? I can't think of anything other than something for an oil cooler bypass valve or AC temp control valve that this would relate to. Can we have a couple of hints?  :grinyes:

That's a good one JS, any help here? You stumped us on this one.  :worship:

I am going to guess a couple more then throw in the towel.
Any other members know what this might  be?

Is it a thermostat to operate something? Is it the coolant bypass valve for the AC tempurature control? It looks like it has a place on it to acctuate something where the shaft is between those little spring arms but it's a mystery to me what it could be.
I don't think it's a pressure valve but if it is, what the heck does it go on? HELP   :banghead:

Sorry I left you guys hanging so long, I have been away a couple of days.

You guys are just so all around it I'm just gonna spill the beans. It's an Evaporator pressure regulator, or EPR valve for short. Must have A/C to have this.

This is mounted just inside the suction port of the twin cylinder RV-2 compressors in our beloved muscle cars.  It's purpose is to restrict the flow of refrigerant under light air conditioning loads. This is done to keep the evaporator pressure high enough to prevent the freeze up of condensate(water) on the external surfaces of the evaporator coil.

I hope we can carry on with this cool thread!!  1 point for JS! lol

 First thoughts I had too NZ, funneee. JS, thanks for picking such an easy one, yeh right! It looks to be off of a sixties imprerial but not sure. Someone will guess this one but not me! Thanks for the good one on the AC pressure regulator, that makes a lot of sense now but just couldn't put it with anything I'd seen before.
