I will not see the movie at the theater or on DVD. I just have a problem with all the hype that surrounds movies like this. It turns out to be not a look back at a T.V. show but a vehicle for the likes of Jessica Simpson and the marketing department.
I thought I had saw that they destroyed several general lees in the making of the film and for what?

Then don't you think it's worth while seeing the movie for the General Lees sake? Not in vain so-to-speak.  :-\

I have seen SOOOOO many posts on board about people thinking it was going to be crap then admiting that it was actually a cool movie, nothing like the TV show. I heard they wrecked 5 times as many police cars as general lees.  :P

"Actually a cool movie, nothing like the TV show". Thats my point. Just a vehicle to sell a product. The people that didn't like the movie expected the TV show

The police cars I don't worry about. Theres lots of those but 1 General is 1 to many.

Just saw it tonite.

It was a FUN movie.

Have you guys watched any of the Dukes of Hazzards re-runs they play every night on CMT ?   I have tried to watch them, and I cant.  Theyre kinda lame, and I had to quit trying to watch so that I did ruin a good memory of being a kid and watching the Dukes every week.   If this would have been 1.5 hour long TV show I would have been tweaked in a bad way.

THey could have used a Ford Pinto for this movie and it still would have been fun.

I cant see how the movie could have been much better, considering what they had to work with, and the new era we're in.

If they would have taken the GL and Bo and Luke too seriously, it would have been just another Hollywood ripoff movie.

Id like Jessica Simpson a lot better if she didnt talk, shes no Daisy.   Catherine Bach had the body and the Sexy talk/charm.   JS has no charm, shes a bit of pinewood board.

The car chase scenes are pretty good, theyre alot more up close and personal as opposed to sayyyyyy Smokey and the Bandit.   If I had to pick one overall, SatB was overall a better car chase movie.

When Dukes movie goes to Cable, Im sure Ill be watching it whenever I stumble across it while channel hopping.    It was good, but you had to have the right frame of mind.

I think the Big Screen did a lot for the up-close and personal parts of the chase scenes...      but maybe you can just sit real close to the TV and get the same effect ?  (Just dont let your moms see ya doing that, and make her yell at yas that youre gonna "ruin your eyes watching TV like that")   haha           :grinno:     ;D
