Where did you find your car for sale?
« on: August 02, 2005 - 12:17:54 AM »
How many people found and bought their cars from an ad on this site?  How about moparts, ebay, friend or local newspaper?

How long did it take you to close the deal and pick it up? ;D ;D ;D
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

After about 6-7 months of looking "almost" gave up then found one 30 minutes away.
Found it on a Cheap NZ sight, had a look & within 1 week she was up my driveway.

Well i have somewhat of an interesting story, and its late, and im bored....so here it is..

Last October we decide to move from Hampton, VA ack to the west coast here in Vegas. I had a 87 Mustang GT that i sold, because i didnt want to spend the $1200 to ship a $4000 car. Anyways, so i have $7500 of my money (Im still 17, so that isnt all that bad) We are down to about 9 days before we are going to move. I come home and my dad shows me a eBay auction...72 'Cuda, stock 318, $8000 buy it now and the car is an hour away in Virginia Beach...well we thought it over and i borrowed the $500, bought it and went and looked at it. Pretty much how you see it

We get there and the dude figures out the fuel sender is out so he knocks $100 of. so, $7900. Turns out the story on the actual car is, its an Original Canada export car and lived in Ontrario until the guy i bought it from had it imported.....with plans of a big block and drag car dreams  :spank: LUCKILY, he got into 'Chopper' style custom bikes and that took the place of the Drag 'Cuda plans so he put it up for sale. I bought it, drove it home and it was on the transport truck that weekend. :eeksmall:

Its still my daily driver. I just rebuilt the motor in it to find the block was cast on my birthday (9/17/87) but in 1971...how odd

Thats my story

I drove by mine every day for a year before I saw it sitting in the woods beside this ladies house. I finally got up the nerve to ask if it was for sale on a monday, and on saturday , she was in my driveway!

I found mine in the local paper.  I wasn't actually looking for a car, I just went with a freind, but he was more interested in a Duster that the guy was also selling, so I bought the Cuda.  The ad had said he wanted $7500, but when I called he saiid it was a typo, he just wanted $4500. I looked at it on Thursday night, called the guy back on Friday morning saying I wanted it, picked it up on Sunday.

I wasn't looking for a car at the time i saw mine sitting on a Ford dealers back row, and drove past it for 2 weeks. Then decided to buy a cheap car ro drive to take some wear and tear off my hemi roadrunner at the time. Stopped in to the dealer and looked the car over (at the time it was immaculate) but had a burnt valve so I dealed with them and got it for $800 (this was in early 1970 - car was just over a year old) drove it that wayfor the next 8 years

After looking for a big block 4-speed cuda for a couple years and driving by a small block auto Challenger at my brother's apartment complex for about the same amount of time, I finally stopped to talk to the owner.  I wasn't interested in buying it, just happened to see him under the hood.  He was frustrated with a starting problem and somewhere in the conversation he told me he'd sell it for what he had in it.  I emptied my wallet and pulled the rest out of the bank.  Drove it home.  When I get done, it'll be a 440-6 833OD Challenger.  2 out of 3 ain't bad !

A friend and I stripped a 73 Challenger that was really rough and he didn't know what he was going to do with all the extra parts we had.  Well, that's where I stepped in and told him that I'd be interested in them, since my brother a 70 Challenger R/T.  I could use almost all the parts on the 70.  He agreed and now all I had to do is to convice my brother to sell me the 70.  Well, as the pictures show my brother got disgusted after he got things robbed from him. The rest is history.  The car hasn't changed a whole lot since I bought it since it takes time and money which right now I am finishing a 71 Superbee.

At that particular time I was not looking to buy another car. Stopped by my friend's shop and sitting in the back still on a trailer was a wrecked 73 Challenger. Long story / short, bought it from the owner off the trailer, when it backed off, it was mine. That was over 4 years ago.

Last Friday that previous owner, a salvage business owner, died from heart desiese and was only 57 years old. Nothing to do with this little story but still rather ironic.

ebay, 2 hours south of KC. Didn't want anything I couldn't see personally.
My 70 came up 2003 Thanksgiving week, not a good time to sell a car imo. I was looking for a 340 4-speed `Cuda, this one was an automatic.
The price was ok and there was only 1 bid after 6 days.

90% all there and documented,... not a rust bucket, I was stoked.
So after looking at it, I acted cool and said I wasn't going to bid, but here is my offer. Well, after talking racing and my Mopar history, he agreed that it should be mine. So he ended the auction early and it's became my first `Cuda.

Another local strikes again   ;D

 n9671x2,

What year is your Cuda?  I'd assume, being a 340, it's a 73.  I had a 73 340 4-speed that looked just like it.  Always wondered what happened to it.

Actually it is a 74, only year for the 360s.  Gentleman I got it from bought it from his brother in 75 when he was 14 years old.  Numbers motor is balanced/blueprinted with solid lifter cam, w2 heads etc..  Very fun car.
