    And when you see it gather all the factory documentation that you can.  While the dates may not fall into the time frame of your car, you will at least see what the engineers/designers were thinking at the time.

    As for the black out rad most of the high impact cars had it blacked out. I don't/didn't care if it was correct or not it looks f#ckn stupid with the rad support shining through takes away from the 70 Challengers best feature. Mine is blacked out and I know it will help immensley.

    Still not 100% set on keeping the egg crate bare metal.
    IMO it looks better 10x better black, and most people can't tell once hiden under there espeacially with the rad support blacked out.  :thumbs:

    Being able to do what you want to do with your car is one of the great things about this hobby.  The fact that you found a car and put your hard work into it and made it the way you like is just great.  Do they have to look like they just came out of the factory?  No way.  Do you as the owner deserve to be satisfied with it and the hard work you put into it?  Most definitely.  :thumbs:

    :iagree:  ;) But I do want to keep to as original condtion as possible.


    I've changed the following:

     - Converted from Column/Bench to Console/Bucket. (An original R/T with column and bucket seats)
     - Changed from B5-Blue to Bright White (When I got the car it was Alpine someone painted it in the 80's so I kept it that way).
     - Removed the Vinyl top and bodyside moldings (Have purchased new vinyl top and good condition moldings, now in storage).
     - Viscus Fan package.
     - MoPar Electronic Distributor Upgrade.
     - tti headers/exhuast and Borla Muffler system.
     - New Headunit from Pioneer along with rear speakers 650watts each.
     - HARMS Tilt Pistol-Grip Shifter for Slap-Stik.

    Thats bascially it apart from some body work for a driver eg: insulation/rubber compound exterior finish underneath it's original parts.
    I have kept all original parts in storage. The car itself is still 100% numbers matching, just not 100% correct.  ;D :laughing:


    Hmmmmm, have to think about the grill.  :coffee:

    FY1 - You know the egg crate. What is the outside edge color? In photos it looks chrome?
    If it is chrome how do you remove it from the egg crate main area to chrome it? Can it be done?

    Or is the WHOLE egg crate bare metal? I am going bare metal, it's correct and in the photos I have been studiing off #'s cars on Google look black but when they pop the hood the grill is bare metal meaning only one thing. The grill appears black due to the shadow of the hood.

    The part that surrounds the eggcrate is stainless steel.  The "Bright Metal" were the rivets are is Bright Dipped Aluminum, actually the entire grill except for the eggcrate is bright dipped.

    Any large electrical supply house should have it.  Same grill product they cover fluorescent lights with in elevators.  They make different sizes and thickness so you have to match it up.

    The grill originally came from the factory bright dipped.  To refinish the grill needs to be stripped of paint and the dip finish and then polished and re-dipped.  Bright dip is different that anodizing.

    Yes the center section can be removed.  You have to drill the rivets out.
