The "surround" of the eggcrate is stainless steel, no chrome anywhere on the grill.

I just keep getting confused with the 1" edge of the outside egg crate area. I guess it's just polished up pretty good.  :)

I been trying to make up my mind whether or not I like the blacked radator support and surrounding fender where the headlight bezzles go or whether to paint it the color of the car...........I am almost certain the correct Mopar factory finish was blacked out support..........however I have seen some impact colors such as the plum crazy and gomango (orange) that contasted neat with the blacked out area of the grill shell and surrounding area behind the bumper.......this assuming you like the blacked out grill area........However other colors such as white or brown or something just wouldnt look right.......then I would definitely black out the supports and such behind the grill..........also the area behind the firewall was ( on a 70 anyway) was blacked out.......the area in front of the front glass.........but here again alot of guys paint it the color of the firewall and inner fenders.........once again we are looking at some distinction between personal preference and complete adherance to what Mopar put out...... these are more things that make a guy or gal go hmmmmmmm......   I going to Mopar nats to get an idea of what is generally acceptable vs what looks good, vs exact reproduction............

You shoudld DEFINITELY do it. Lots of MoPar mags always say they can't see how people go spend thousands of dollars doing a #1 class show car and for get about doing it, it's VERY tacky. I haven't seen many 70 cars that looked good with high impact rad supports.   :ack:

I always black out behind the grille. Looks so much nicer. Personally, I never black out the cowl top on 70 models. Looks tacky, even the factory quit after 70.

Here's another example of a beautiful car that could have looked so much better.

Have you got any front on shots? I honestly couldn't spot it, doesn;t jump out anyway.
IMO Plum Crazy is probably one of the only high impact factory colors you could get away with.  ;)

 I'm not to concerned as if it's going to rust there it's going to rust someone where else. I'll just keep mine locked up and in the insulated garage. With most of these cars having them installed there hasn't been too many dramas (that I've heard/seen) about rust. :thumbs:
