This movie will be a big letdown. Again the General will be the star. Why did they put a cheap blond to be Daisy? This movie makes no sense and since the bar isn't that high since its based on the TV series this movie will be a big bomb. How can they make Knoxville a movie star? Thats has bad as Owen Wilson.

Ok....Everyone has there opinion, BUT...............That 06 Charger General Lee is a project that my brother headed here in Lincoln NE. Actually, My friends charger (on the left) Is Vitamin C Orange, which is NOT the original color. However, the 06 is Hugger orange, which IS the original color. Everyone who is bashing on this has their right, but you need to get your facts straight. There is about 65K invested in this car. It was torn all the way down to nothing. They put all new black and orange leather interior with Charger ingraved on the seats, a DVD player, Shaved the Rear door handles and put automatic rear door openers on the key fob. They also painted the 5.7 Hemi motor orange and detailed the Sh#@ out of the engine compartment. They had the Rear painted black to match the original Lee. They also put SRT 8 dual exhaust on. What is not pictured is the $2600/piece Boyd Coddington specially made 22" rims to match the original 10 spoked rims on the original Lee. You can bash this all you want, but if you saw this car in person, You would think a little different.

This car was a fun project to see from scratch. There is a lot more to it than throwing paint and stickers on it. I am as big of a dukes fan as anyone else. As for a slap in the face? Whats that about. Why can't it just be a fun little thing that we did to a new charger. I agree that the Charger could have been designed a lot different, (only two doors) But Performance Dodge did what they could with what they had. Just look at it as an improvement to a mistake. And also, if you look at a picture of this car from the side, (without seeing the front grill), it really looks like an old charger.

These threads always kill me. Do you guys honestly think that we would spend 65k plus to defame a 80s show? Some giant conspiracy to make them duke boys look bad and slap the 69 in the face? Some of you all need to take 5 minutes, leave your computers, and join the real world for a minute. I was involved with this project from conception to the final project... the correct orange one, not the Go Mango Daytona R/t package w/ the decals slapped on it... that one took no imagination. This car was built as a promotional tool for the movie and for the Performance group of auto dealers.

So with this vehicle, we did take every nut and bolt loose so that it could be repainted properly and w/ the proper color. Chevrolet hugger orange. The 69 you see is Vitamin C orange and is owned by Adam D. from Lincoln. There is a reason you don't always see a lot of generals together, because not ALL the oranges were ALL the same throughout ALL the episodes. But that's petty anyways.

We did the paint, then had the decals done, then we also have had Katzkin make a custom orange/black leather interior. To top it off, we added the rear seat DVD player, UConnect hands-free communications, SRT8 exhaust (less mufflers) and the mopar CAI. We also shaved the rear door handles to help pay homage to the 2-doors because as we can all agree, a 2-door charger would have been much better.. but there isn't one now, it's 4 door.. DEAL! Window tint, Dixie horns, etc. are just a few more of othe add-ons. No CB? If the duke boys were made today, don't you think they'd have cell phones w/ uconnect so that they can talk hands-free?

When we take this New charger to a promotion what do you think happens? Do people come over and pimp slap those involved for defaming dukes? Of course not, it gathers attention and praise everywhere it goes. Peope love the general lee and they genuinely respect what has been done w/ the new charger. Every 69 Charger General Lee that we go to promotions with makes SURE that they get a picture with it as well. Why is that? Shouldn't the 69 General guys be pissed? Of course not... just the internet baddies.

We were given 1 month to do this project and accomplished even more that we had anticipated because of everyones involvement. The car turned out great, is fun to drive, and promotes the movie as well as Performance Auto Group, all which were the intentions. So if you have anything bad to say, I just suggest using the brick wall to talk to.

When you're posting a reply, click on "Additional options" go to the attach box and click "Browse" Then go into your computer and find the photo you want to attach. Click on it and then hit "open" and the file should appear next to the browse tab. Check the requirements under the attach area to make sure your file is the correct format. If you want to add more than one pic, click on where it says "more attachments" and additional boxes open up!

Good point I TOTALLY AGREE!!! The car pays TRIBUTE!! to the dukes of hazzard. They used what they had (A 4 door) and made it fun for the movie. at least they shaved the rear door handles if that doesen't tell you something! and when have you ever seen a dealership spend the time and money to help promote a movie??? And as far as the movie go's it was AWSOME!!! but if your looking for an 80's show you'll be one of those :cry: The movie was never trying to copy the show just the IDEA!! If you look past the 80's show and watch the movie FOR the movie it's super cool!! lots of music like AC/DC, lots of comedy, lots of car wrecks and chases, hot women, ect. So quit complaning and go HAVE FUN WITH IT!! THATS THE POINT!!

I can't believe I haven't chimed in before now.� But, better late than never.� Especially as big a DC fan as I am (dripping sarcasm).

As for the guys who worked on the project,� no offense is intended toward you,� the workmanship is excellent, from what I can see.

As for the concept,� I'm not a General Lee fan, unless it's one that was actually used in production, I've seen a few, from the smashed up one that was repainted as a race car for a later episode, to ones used for non-jumping shots in the series.� If you have one you've made in honor of the show, if you're happy, I'm happy.

As for what you had to work with,� I still think and always will, that DC made the Charger a laughing stock of the industry.� It's nothing more than a rebadged euro trash 4 door grocery getter.� Add to that an engine that's called a Hemi that ain't and the ripoff is complete.

Again, it's the base car that sucks, not the work that was done on it.� All that talent should have been put to good use.

The "new" "car" is a disgrace, bottom line ! And what the tv show and the two movies have done to a few hundres real Chargers is nothing but a disgrace as well. Anyway you cut it, both are a stupid waste. :bs:

First off,� I'm not going away from the fact that they called a 4 door grocery getter a Charger.� Correct in that I'm not one of those buying the things, they aren't what the name implies.� That's why I haven't bought a chrysler since DC took over.� A foreign (to me) company buys Chrysler and starts pimping out the trademarks, that upsets me.� My money has gone to GM for new cars, to private individuals for real chryslers (Roadrunner and Challenger).� It's not like slamming a Chinese restaurant because I don't like Chinese food.� It's more like slamming a restaurant that calls itself Chinese and serves McDonalds.

Now for my favorite, the so called Hemi.� To quote Allpar.com:

Today's Hemi is that (a "Hemi") in name only. [Editor's note: Bob is referring to the head design. It is not a true hemispherical head, but looks vaguely like a hemispherical head with parts filled in.]

Back to my words:

Yes it's probably a better running engine than if they had left the heads hemispherical, BUT - A Hemi it ain't.

Sales for the month of June:

Charger sold 4,354 units

Mustang totaled 14,470 units.

Yep, really tearing them up
