6-Way Seat Mechanisim/Track - Questions
« on: August 04, 2005 - 09:22:00 PM »

I want my seating position to be just right and have decided to install a 6-way seat mechanisim on the drivers seat in my Challenger.

I see HARMS sell the tracks, but is there anywhere else I can get the set up? What else do I need apart form the tracks?  :???:
I know eBay have them sometimes and I have emailed tonysparts.

Here is the harms link: www.harmsauto.com - Its the last item on the left at the bottom of the page.

Thanks for ANY help given.  :)

From their description those brackets are for the underside of the car only. You still need the mechanism for adjusting the seat. Here are some pictures of the mechanism.

Thanks Camjam, great photos.  :)

There positions are:

 - Back/Forwad
 - Up/Down
 - Rear and Front Tilt

Is that correct?  :D

Do they add any height to the seat over the stock brackets? They just look big, (height wise) like they would add a few inches to the seat height, or (hopefully) once the 6-way is installed it has the same apperance to the stock seats with stock tracks? :dontknow:

Thanks

Keep in mind that "B" and "E" Body 6 ways are different.

Ebay has them for around $600 occasionally

I really like the 6 way seat.  Much more comfortable getting some lift in the thigh area.

The 6 way seat track bolts that are closest to the door, are farther towards the center of the car on a 6way track, so though it looks like it will sit higher naturally,  when its Low front and rear, its about same.   So Two studs go into the normal holes (ones closest to the Console) and the other two go into seat holes youre not currently using with a regular seat track.  The studs from the "straps" that come with the Harms kit, go into the regular seat stud holes in the floor.

action direction:

--Back and forth

--Front up and down

--Back up and down

Youll need knobs if they dont come on the Seat track.   I havent seen a tilt knob on eBay before, not that Ive looked real hard though.
But the back and forth lever is same as regular track.

Thanks for everyones input, FY1443433 is right, lots of good people here.

Robb - So the exisiting seat holes will not work, only the ones closest to the console.  :-\
see photo below for an idea of what my resto team has to work with.  :)

Thanks, I think I get want you mean just wanting to confirm. Looks like there hard to get. :-[

I have been thinking about it, if I don't find a set or even if I do I will leave the stock setup in the car and see how I like the seating position(s) if it's fine stock and I feel comfortable I don't see the need to convert however if I can't get right and my driving position is not going to work I'll then install it. What is the weight of the 6-way seat unit (roughly) They look awful heavy.  :ack:

Cheers everyone.

If your car didnt have a 6way seat in it, you may not have the all the holes in the body.  I dont know, mine came from factory with 6-way

REGULAR SEAT
The regular seat frame studs goes into the far spaced holes,
no straps required and center most hole not used.

6-WAY SEAT
the 6 way seat mechanism/frame studs goes in to the holes on the right and the ones close to center
straps go on the far left

If your talking about the powered one on E-pay last week that was mine. The guy who bought that left me all kinds of nice feedback 'cause he loves it.

I thought it would go for more money though :P  But I listed it twice so when it hit the minimum I let it go.

Also, please note that the gold colored rod is not original, it was missing on this one so I made one from a coat hanger.
