I have a 1971 HEMICUDA with a KEITH BLACK 528 Gene Gregory rubber bumpers and all steel shaker hood. this car is advertised in the Sept edition of Hemmings on page 561. The other car is a 1970 Challenger Convertible with the 5.7 HEMI with the Mercedes 5 speed automatic with less then 25 miles!! This car is advertised in the same Hemmings on page 409. Wow that was a nice read on the build-up of the Hemi-Cuda!   Looks like alot of time and effort went into the construction of the car!!  Nice job!!  :drool:  :drool:  :drool:   Looks like you had to deal with alot of wrong parts and tough installs. Dammn vendors.  :gripe:   Certainly looks like a fun toy!!   :worship:  :worship:  :worship:

Thanks The builder was incredible with the time it took. I'm building a couple of other cars and I will stay away from the vendors that really screwed us like Keisler.

 They sent out the wrong flywheel. That sounds like a small problem but it cost me almost a week. We had to get the car to a Kruse auction and we would have made it if the right part was sent. Click onto the build link and it will go into a little more detail. I had a lot of problems with vendors as you''ll read. But with Keisler Shafi called me and said he will call the builder to see if he could help. Shafi called me back and said that the builder said it was his fault (the builders) and according to Shafi problem solved. I called the builder and he said that he told Shafi that he need the 143 tooth flywheel not the 132 it wasn't reaching the starter even with the kit that Keisler sends. When you install the flywheel for the KB528 you need to break down the engine which my builder did not only once but he had to break it down twice then put back together twice which was expensive but more importantly time. Shafi calls me up cursing because i said to someone that was in a chat room what happened. Shafi showed very little professionalism and quite frankly he acted like a punk.Since the build I have had alot of people get in touch with me to suggest companies for certain parts. Out of the 20 or so people that asked me about the transmission I had 10 take my advice and go somewhere else. One thing about the build process if I can help someone dodge a bullit and make his build a little easier and less stressful I glad to do it. The car got to the auction imcomplete because of that situation which cost me about 3k. I was surprised that we got a bid of 85k for an incomplete car. I don't mind mistakes as much as a company or in this case Shafi lying to protect his backside which in this case cost him at least 10 new customers at 5k plus apiece...

Well over 130K It was just under 1500 hours. I wanted to build a 1 of 1. When I started this project every resto  house told me 18-36 months minium. BK did it in an  amazing time in 5 months!!

I ran into some kid w/ a Nice challenger @ the local Friday night show.. after talking & swapping e-bod stories I found that he works as one of the body men @ Totally Auto in PA.. small world. He said the Don Johnson clone vert took approx 2000 hrs @ $65/hr. Lots of money in these cars..

Did you ever consider Totally auto??

No I didn't. I knew if I was going to use a resto company I had to be careful. The hourly rate up here in the Northeast is 75-80 per hour. At 1500 hours thats  over 110k just for labor. I knew that  I had to pick a company in the south where the price was more reasonable.  I find it funny when I go on some of these websites and read that all these people are going to build their own clone car that its easy etc.. My next project is a 1966 Batmobile. So if you know of anyone looking... it should be ready sometime in Oct.
