Learned and took my drivers test in a 52 Chevy "torpedo" back. Dad drove those big fancy Pontiac cars, he paid $50.00 for this car "just for me" to learn on and to drive, lol.

i learned to drive on a John Deere, actually several of them. First vehicle was a 92 ford f-150 for a year and a half before i got smart and bought a dodge. took my road test in my mothers minivan, one piece of advice on that is make sure that your car is registered and inspected before you go to your test. my mothers was out for a few monthes and i had to wait 3 weeks to take the test again.

This may be a long story because there is so much love involved with me and my first car...I still have her and she runs stronger than ever with that 99cents a litre gas flowing inside of her like anabolic steroids...You may disagree, you may think I'm crazy, but I am a firm believer that the best looking car ever made was a Ford, it's not my fault, I am biased but if you owned this beast, you would feel the exact same way. She was made in the year of 1992 in a Canadian factory. Not known to must, she boasts a much powerful 3.8 litre engine... a sleeper of somesort..Clearly she was made for the rich at the time, being so elegant and yet powerful at the same time...who would have known the impact she left on the early nineties car scene...Her colour is what is most often described as a deep majestic navy blue...with a baby blue stripe along the side clearly stating she means business...She can easily fit 6 and there is enough room in the back for numerous hockey bags not to mention the sticks...if you haven't guessed by now she is a wagon, a very very sexy wagon. you have to feel the power to truly appreciate it...her given name is a Ford Taurus GL Wagon, but I like to call her the BLUE ROCKET... and man does she ever live up to it...If ever you are looking for a car chicks want and guys want to have...this is it...Let me know if you have any questions....and yes there is enough room for two people to "lie down" comfortably in the back... ;D

Happy for you Pixie! That's quite a ride for a beginner but just be careful and have fun.
I mostly drove a 68 Roadrunner, my dad bought it brand new in late 68 and he put more tires on that car than most people do in a lifetime! It was a blast! Glad I survived.  :grinyes:

The real story is her daily/learner car is an 89 Cavalier that we got off ebay for 300 bucks.  It didn't pass emissions last month, so we're working on fixing it so that she can learn to drive in HER car til the Duster is finished.  Hmmmm.... 89 cavalier or 74 Duster...now there's some incentive to git-r-done!

I actually drove my Kawasacki 90 around untill i was 18! Then when my dad bought a 2 year old 74 american motors matador, I got the 1968 rebel Rambler!! The first time i took the drivers test i went thru a yellow light and i flunked it! Right after i got my license, i had a 1964 alpine. That was a very fun car for a 18 year old! But it was hard on driveline parts(or was I?) so i sold it and got my first Mopar...1970 Dodge Coronet 500, 318 dark burnt orange....
