How Much Would You Pay For This Car?
« on: August 06, 2005 - 03:48:04 PM »
Okay so as you all know I'm just playing with the idea of selling my Challenger for an A-Body. I was hoping to find a decent one for the price I had in mind but, when I started looking and doing research I found that the 73-76 A-Bodies were less prone to rust in certain areas because of some design changes that took place in 73 for the A-Bodies. Anyways, I think I found a car but, I think it's kind of priced too high but, from what I'm being told everything is original on the car including the radio in it and it is in good shape. The guy is asking $12,600 for it but, I was thinking more along the lines of $11,500-$12,100 for it maybe. It's only a 318 2bbl car but, here's some of the options and some pictures included.

The fender tag decodes as follows:

318ci 2BBL V8
Torqueflight 3 speed automatic on the column
Color: G2 Frosty Green (available only in 1974 and 1975)
Interior: White Vinyl Seats/Front Buckets
Fold Down Rear Seat
Dart Sport Package
Interior Decor Group
Sound Insulation Package
Power Brakes/Front Disk
Power Steering
Undercoating
Air Conditioning
HD Alternator
3 Speed Wipers
Inside Hood Release
Electric Rear Window Defroster (1st year for this)
Map Light
Dual Chrome Sport Mirrors w/ Driver Side Remote
Fender Mounted Turn Signals
Canopy Vinyl Top
Tinted Glass

Thank but, I'm gonna have to sell the Challenger first if the Dart doesn't get sold before then. I'm gonna see if I can get him to send me some pictures of the undercarriage.

That looks like a very clean dart, but how desireable is it?
I would think the Challenger would be worth keeping instead.

You will always get you money out of the challenger. Not out of that dart! Now burpin would consider buying it if burpin had the money to use a daily driver. Burpin cant seem to get around using his cuda as a daily.

So, you think the Dart wouldn't appreciate in value or get your moneys worth out of it? Hmmm... I don't know I just hate being in this position. Hmmm... decisions, decisions.

 :dogpile: :iagree:

That is a clean car but it just can't be worth that much :dontknow:

The parts at swap meets and on E-bay are not worth anything...even NOS

Can you imagine buying a Challenger or CUDA headlight bucket for $1.99?

Thanks for all the replies so far. My question though is I'm wondering if the A-Bodies will continue to climb in value?

The more desireable ones probably will. While the one you're looking at is a real sharp looking car, being a '73 318 car detracts from its overall value and desirability. If it was a 340 matching numbers car, it would probably be worth his asking price. I think he is probably 2-3K too high. The Challenger is and probably always will be a more desirable car.

Thanks TeeWJay426, I'm thinking he's asking a lot too. I did happen to find a 71 Road Runner with a 340 in it for $11,900 I think? Anyways, I love my Challenger but, I don't know. Anyways, I'll think some more about it.

Yes but nowhere near the price of Es
Supply and demand. Mopar made hundreds of thousands Dusters, Darts, Valiants, Scamps ect each year
Mopar also made 279370 Barracudas and Challengers total, give or take

Millions of A-bodies and not even 300 thousand Es

Plus the E-bodies are just cooler

it is an exceptional clean looking dart but I wouldnt spend that much on a dart no matter how nice it is, dart will never be challenger or even demon which i would take over dart

Thats  a nice looking car, but  you can get A bodies for a lot cheaper.  When I looked on ebay earlier tonight I didn't see any for over $10,000, most were under $3000.  There weren't any that nicce, but you can get a decent e body for $13,000
