Sorry to hear you got caught up in a vortex of mistakes! what a hassle. Here's a story for your reading pleasure....
We used to keep our sealed and stamped bill payments to be sent out on the 1st and 15th by the front door awaiting payday to mail. one day (over a week before payday) the mailman comes to the door with a package. Door answered by a relative staying at our house. Mailman sees the stamped envelopes and says, "hey, I'll save you a trip to the mailbox, I can take those" -- Relative says "Thanks! youre so thoughtful!". Rev and I on a trip, - go to ATM - ZERO balance. :dontknow: Ut oh --mortgage and insurance bills were in that stack -- can you imagine the number of outstanding checks that bounced within a few days- each with their corresponding NSF fee! Now, the thing is- its illegal for the mailmain to take items from other than the mailbox- yet this poor man, who was trying to help - had to write a letter explaining his actions, in order for the bank to reinstate everything. Still had to deal with each party who got a bounced check. Think it took a few weeks to get all sorted out.
(no we dont stage the completed bills by the front door no more
)
