What should I expect in the 1/4 mile at Nats this weekend?
« on: August 09, 2005 - 10:01:30 AM »
The chally R/T that I bought in carlisle is going to nats.  I want to run it a couple of times.   It is a fresh(6/05) stock rebuild 383 mag.  It has a 3:55 SG in it and I think that I can shift it w/o missing any gears  ;D.   Any perspective guesses on a time so that I don't get my hopes up too high?   Dr V

Depends where you shift [rpm]  and how many runs you get that day.
 I say  15.2 to 16.2 seconds

If your not in the 14's, you either shift like you sleeping or the rebuild has low compression....

i've seen 383's with 3.23's turn low 14's here...???

good luck!

It takes time to get used to a new cars characteristics, good luck. Most of all, don't be concerned about ultimate low times, just on improving as the day progresses. Have fun, not anquish !
