I drove mine for only a short time after I bought it before I tore it down. Although it ran well enough I believe it got less than 10mpg. Specs then were:

340 bored .030
Crane cam  222°/234° @ .050".
Holley Street Avenger 670cfm
hooker headers
727 auto trans

She is going back together now and with gas hovering around $2.50/gal am wanting to maximize mpg. It will have a stock MP 340 cam. I haven't decided on carb yet but am leaning towards 600cfm. I would be very interested to hear of the small block 17-20mpg+ combinations that are out there. Please post them up. Would really like to hear from the guy running the Ford fuel injection system

ive got a 440 magnum and i was trying to find out how many mpgs it gets but looking online didnt help lol

my dad told me yeterday that it gets 12 miles a gallon i guess its been wasting more gas because of all the turning on and off and how much we've been reving the engine to check for any leaks noises and stuff like that .... now that i actually drive it im sure ill be able to tell how much it gets

73 D200 440 4bbl, mostly stock with lotsa compression, 4:10 rear, auto trans, 16-18mpg
74 Challenger, 360 4bbl, mostly stock, 3:55 rear, auto trans, 12ish mpg
78 Aspen, 360 4bbl, not even close to stock, 4:56 rear, auto trans, 5ish mpg

All depends on how you build em and drive em. Biggest influence on mileage, IMO, compression. More compression= more torque = more efficiency, so long as you do it in a reasonable rpm range.

I smell a 3 year old thread here.    :poopoke:

Since moving on to a Proform 850CFM carb, my smiles have increased,    but my gas gauge is probably moving a little more quickly too.   :eek7:

Aw heck, if I even get near 12MPG on the Hiway now, I won't complain.

My 1967 Barracuda has a 389 cubic inch (383+.030" overbore) bigblock with 10.75:1 compression, a nasty camshaft, 0-3310 Holley 750cfm carb, 727, and 4.10:1 gears in the 8.25" diff. My gas economy on gasoline (pump premium) was 6mpg, and worse when I leaned on her. With E-85, she gets 8mpg, and I hope to get more as I play with this fuel. With taller gears (I would like to have 2.71 gears again), I should be able to get about 12 mpg from this setup. With my 36-gallon fuel tank, I give my car a safe cruising range of 200 miles.

Too many variables to get a figure online. You need to fill it up and calculate your mpg as every car is different.
