my door says 11/69 and the engine says 10/69. is  that normal? The engine has never been replace.   ???

It is possible.

Each plant started at the VIN sequence at 100001 each model year, so for 1970, LA and Hamtramck could have had cars that had the same engine and VIN except for the plant code.

I may have found an example of this....on the GTX registry....71 GTX with a VIN of RS23U1G142763 and another 71 GTX with a VIN of RS23U1R142763..... http://gtxregistry.com/masterlist.htm

Another A13 Hamtramck Challenger here. SBD 10-13-69 but actually built the last week of October according to the front bucket seat tags and the date code on the stearing column crush can! ??? Any ideas Barry?
