    Restoration Labor Rates

    What are the market rates for body work now a days? I've contacted two companies in So.Cal so far:

    1. Restorations by Julius - $70 Per Hour for all Work.
    2. Hot Rods & Custom Stuff - Fabrication, Rust repair $95.00 per hour, Paint and body and final assembly $85.00 per hour, Upholstery and trim $75.00 per hour

    What do you guys think about the prices? Are they fair? On the high side? Also has anyone dealt with companies? Any info would be greatly aprpeciated.

    In New Zealand I had my body work done at a rate of $50 an hour, now down to $40.  :)

    In Northern Ohio about the same $80.00 an hour for all work . Body work will include sanding by hand.

    Hey mate, not too bad use to be 1 NZD could buy 50c US ages ago now it's 1 NZD can by around the 70c US mark.
    Goes up and down slightly but stays around the 68c-71/2c area.

    Still $40 to me is $40 to you.  ;) :)

    IMO too much $$$$ for a "West Coast" restoration.

    I'm in northwest Ohio. I have been restoring cars for 21 yrs and I have been charging $30/ hr. I do not have any overhead to pay for and alot of my customers still pay about $4500 to $12000 to do the bodies alone. And most of all I enjoy the fun part of the cars, not just the money.

    The guy I've taken two of my cars to charges $40.00/hr for paint and finishing, $25.00/hr for sand blasting, welding, assembly, ect.

    the shop i work at charges 42 bucks an hour. and we're in north dakota. we also are a full service hot rod shop. so we do alot of custom work.
