Nitrous and how too.

Getting a nitrous kit from a friend shortly. 150 shot NOS kit, installed but never used. I just have a few questions about what needs to be done to run it safetly.

Colder range plugs correct? if so how much colder
retard timing? if so approx. how much
Richen carb? how do i know where to tune it too.

any other things i may want to do so i don't blow up my engine. I've a first time user and i'm kinda worried i'll F something up and have a 440 yard ornament and a car that doesn't move.

I believe 2-4 * retard with nitrous works , you shouldn`t have to richen the carb at all , just make sure there si enough fuel added with the nitrous so it runs rich with the nitrous on , it is also a good idea to use a separate fuel system with the nitrous to be sure enough fuel can  be added , the stock system may not have enough capacity

A couple of fail safes you may want to consider are a Rev Limiter. If you blow the tires loose while your on NOS you probably won't be able to get out of it in time. Another thing I used to do when I installed these setups is an oil pressure cut off switch. If the oil pressure below a certain setting it cuts power to the NOS solenoid. Customers generall don't want to spen money on anything other than what makes them go fast, until they end up spending more on the things they need to repair because they didn't protect them. Think about it.

I've definitly took into consideration all of these "fail safes". As of now i need to get a purge valve. My buddy says just to hold the motor at around 3k and tap the nitrous on and off and it will purge the system and will not cause any damage. I'm very cautious because i don't have the thousands of dollars needed to rebuild my motor.

 Make sure you have enough fuel pressure!!! I'm going to use one fuel pump for the both carbs and one for the Nitrous.
 You want some type of fuel shutoff switch. So if your fuel pressure drops the Nitrous shuts off. Also another good one to have is a Wide open throttle switch so the Nitrous ONLY stays on at full throttle.
 Jacobs makes something called a Nitrous Mastermind that just about does it all, especially if you use it with the optional full throttle switch. It's something I'll be getting.
