I'm trying to get the numbers figured out before I start anything I just found the numbers on the cowl BI I56753 and  on the radiator cross member. Is it true that these are the last eight of the vin? If is it also true that the BI are flipped? which means this is a 1971 Cuda? THe gas cap is original and I was told that it was from a 1971 cuda How do I tell for sure? once this is solved then I will get started on the "tearing into it" and get this fish back to swimmin!

Yeah it is the # 2 out of three being sold out of IL. I'm just happy to have been ablt to find two sets of matching numbers. Now I'll have to pull the engine to see is we can get a Triple play on vin numbers.

Hi S-C! I've only had my Cuda for 6 months and now it's torn apart, so same story here. :) Spending evenings with the cuda in the garage is fun!

Welcome to the board, Sal_Chichon.  I thought that car looked familiar.  I'd have to assume that with the numbers you have provided would conclude that your car would be a '71 Barracuda or 'Cuda. (depending on the first two letters of the V.I.N.)  It may look overwhelming now, but just take it piece by piece and you'll have that car out on the road in all its glory. ;)

It`s a serious project but nothing that can`t be done, just start tearing it down and mark everything so you will know where it goes later. Are you doing any of the work yourself or having someone else do it?

Yes, I will be doing most the work myself. with the help of some friends " sanding party" all i'll have to do is supply the pizza and beer and they will assist in the process. I'll supply the beer after the sanding because drunks + Cuda = Bad News. I just picked up a pnuematic high speed cut off tool that I will be using to cut out the floor boards. I just need to order the replacement pans.
