From what I hear, there is someone making the dash VIN plates. There's apparently some debate on the legality of doing such. Of course, unless your car is inspected by a local official with an extraordinary knowledge of VIN plates, you can probably replicate a VIN dash plate and get away with it. Now, if you put that new dash in with that VIN plate AND try to register it under that new VIN....I'll bake a cake with a file in it for you!

No matter what anyone says, the legally correct thing to do is to consult your local DMV about what is required to title and register the car. IF you are missing the dash VIN tag AND the local DMV physically inspects your car for some reason, THEN you will most likely be required to provide certain documents to prove that the car is what you say it is and that it isn't stolen. They will then Probably assign you a new VIN and permanently attach the new VIN tag to your car (in a non-factory location).

But, just go down to the DMV and find out for sure.

So assuming you have the correct documentation here is where you go:

For door tags:  www.ecsautomotive.com

For fender tags:  www.datatags.com   (not sure if these guys do the vin tags also)

Hope this info helps.

This car sounds familiar... hum...

Took you long enough to find this place.  Also check out Moparts.com That is where I normally hang out.

I said that it could be a 71 Cuda.  Some signs pointed to the fact that it was a 71... like the gas cap is a 71 gas cap and not a 70, a few other pieces as well.

Here is a picture the day you picked it up.

I have pictures of the car.  Take a look.  It is the white one.

P.S. Fender Tags can be made, but only with evidence of the options the car had originally.  And Dash Vins can not be made new to look like the original.  That is a federal offence, you can have a state issued dash vin tag, but it won't look original.

Its going... to say the least.  I'm checking out a 71 Demon on monday and a friend of mine just picked up a 71 Challenger that I'm going to help him out with next week or so.  Other then that, not much.  School mostly.  And junkyards... as much junkyarding as I can do.  I got thousands of pictures from junkyard travels.  Check out this old post for some of my adventures.

Hey if you can keep an eye out for tail lights or the tail panel for the cuda I need lights and want to replace the panel. I check and so far there is no body reproducing them. Let me know. I am waiting for goodmark to release the gilled fenders, or if anyone knows of fiber glass fenders with the gills.

Hey Sal..

What side of the tail panel are the holes for the "barracuda" emblem? drivers or passengers side?
That would show what year your car is for sure.......

I appears that the holes are on the right next to the lock hole. It looks like someone tried repairing the tail panel because from the exterior of the car you not see the holes but from in the trunk there are two rows spaced about 2" X 4" between the license plate and the lock (right tail light). The whole thing needs replaced though, and I am having trouble finding a replacement.

Then the car is a 1970

I do have a '70 'CUDA tail panel I was planning to put on E-bay. I also have the lights also from another car.
Keep in mind that the 'CUDA, Barracuda, and Grand Coupe tail panels had slight differences and mine is off of a real 'CUDA.

Send me a PM if your interested

So here are some pics

They trimmed it out of the car pretty rough but I can say that it is a usable part. A little bondo under the license plate but not a big deal.

Here are some pics
