I have one but the dates are too early for your needs, it's an F 383 cast 6-69 and built 8/11/69.

How much earlier should your motor be dated than your car? If a car was built in October of 1970, what date should my motor show?

My car was built 9/1969, not sure if they all follow the same pattern though, the block cast date shouldn't really come into play as much since in November 69 they could snag one off the shelf to build in October that was actually cast in July. The engine build date may be the one to watch, you wouldn't think they'd build an engine and let it sit for several months. I believe the engine build date should be within a month or so of the car build date if you are trying to be as correct as possible without having the orignial engine.

While on the subject of build dates, how do you know how many cars were built before another? As I understand it, the sequence number is the total cars, all models that were produced on that assembly line not one individual model. So how can you tell how many were made before yours of a particular model?
