I need some advice on setting my carbs (426 Hemi). The car came from Wyoming, where I would assume it would have been jetted for around 5-6000' altitude. I am in Minnesota, and we are at 2000'. The car is running very rich. Anyway...
First off, I thought they should be Carter 4139 and 4140 carbs. The numbers I took off them were:
--Front: F39635S
--Rear: 2H49635S. Does this make sense to anyone? If I decode this correctly, (thankx to an old thread by Hemi71!) they are Carter 9000 series and 625cfm; but for a Chevy...not
the 875cfm that the car came with.
If that is the case, what is the proper jetting, rod size and bowl setting? I have changed the jets to the factory recc: which is:
--Front: 89.089 both primary and secondary
--Rear: Primary-89 (both left and right)
Secondary-92 left, 77 right
What size metering rods should be used?...and the float setting? Thx in adv. for hte help.
