Getting Car Insured Need some input
« on: September 29, 2005 - 12:54:17 PM »
My question is that we are getting the 'Cuda insured and kind need an idea of maybe how much to have it insured for. My mother has given me the job of find all this out since she is making me part owner of the car now.

Its an all original...original paint, engine, interior, etc. It has 44,452 orignal miles. The interior is superb every is there. It has the slap-stick automatic shifter w/ console. They paint looks good considering age. no fade, chips. Have the factory spare, jack (no air canister) The only thing that has been added is the electric fuel pump and longtube headers other that it is stock. All tags in place and have broadcast sheets. Number matching. She has owned the car as long as i can remember and we only drive it once or twice a summer.

Any information would be greatly appreciated as to what it might be worth. Thanks

Hagerty Insurance....fill out their application and state a value.  Your driving will be limited and you need a garage I believe.  From all I hear it is a great place to deal with.

first off, Nice Car!
I would say that the AAR cudas are going for around 60K in good condition, that looks like a #1 car from the pic and your description so it may vary some.  Anyone else got a figure? I use Haggerty for my challenger at around 200.00 dollars a year.

we have an insurance company. i was just wondering what we should insure it to in case of a distaster :(  the care remains stored year round only driven in nice clear weather. i would say the car is probably a #2 car since it is 35yrs old and no attempts have been made to restore it so it does have a few flaws being as old as it is. keep the suggestions comments coming. Thanks

Awsome car!  I would think that the fact it is mostly original & unrestored would make it be worth more, might be worth getting an appraiser out, (use a different company then if you don't like it you can file it) Rich.

I would make sure you get an appraiser to look at the car and go from there.
Not to sound rude but a 35 yr old car will probably not be a #2 car. This would be a car that was rotisserie restored but has now been driven awhile or a much older restoration.

Awesome looking Cuda there!

LOL. Glad you're on the right track now ;)

You said your mom owns the car?
How long, how did she choose to buy it etc.
More pics would be great as well.
