what I meant is...   Are you really really sure that a previous owner wasnt enterprising and collected parts off of other cars and put them on his car just for fun but not in an attempt to undergo any restoration.....   ?

A car can have that done to it at any age.   Why I included the example of 93 Nissan, truck wasnt even 2 years old and I was swapping parts in it....    Was that truck ever restored nope.

But according to this here is some good news:

http://www.aarta.com/interiors/interiors.html

""Carpeted lower door panels were included with the cloth & vinyl interior""

HRX9  (THATs YOU DOOD !)
""leather bucket seat mimics the cloth & vinyl interior seat pattern.
Only 3 colors were available.   Carpeted lower door panels were included with leather seats too.""

How to Decode Your Interior.

The interior is denoted by a four position code on your fender tag.
The first position is for Trim Grade. H - High
P - Premium

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The second position is for Trim Type. 4 - Vinyl Split Bench Seat
5 - Cloth & Vinyl Bucket Seats
6 - Vinyl Bucket Seats
R - Leather & Vinyl Bucket Seats

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The third and forth positions denote the Trim Color.

(Just like the paint codes, these letters and numbers
mean something. Letters denote colors: B = Blue,
E = Red, F = Green, K = Orange, T = Tan,
W = White, and X = Black.
Numbers denote the shade within that color.
(The higher the number, the darker the shade.) B5 - Blue or Bright Blue
E4 - Red
F8 - Green or Dark Green
K4 - Burnt Orange
T5 - Tan or Saddle Tan
X9 - Black
BW - Blue & White
EW - Red & White
FW - Green & White
XW - Black & White

If that guy is right then.....   THERES YOUR PROOF !      You just have a available option package on your car.

Everything makes sense what you described EXCEPT for thr molded headliner,  You never said if it also has the overhead console,  the car is not coded for one.

Thats cool

I understand what your saying about adding stuff from other cars for the fun of it but I'm sure that was not the case the car has sat since 1987 and it has not been altered.

Well wait a second:
Is the headliner actually molded......

all I saw was that he said was it was cloth.....      and again something that could be done at any time by anyone.    cigarette burns, etc.....
1970 - 1987       thats 17 years.....    thats a long time.

Tropicalcats:
Give us some details on the headliner....   is it a hardboard underneath it all the way around....    gets  some good clear pics and post them up.

Correct for a leather interior car.

And the leather interior was available on an R/T. So what I have is a 70 R/T that was ordered with leather interior and the carpeted doors, ashtrays in the back was just part of the leather package?

Hold on a second, something is not right.    Per the people at Legendary Interiors as well as Year One, there is no such thing as 1970 RT or RT/SE white leather seats.   And neither lists white leather seats in their catalogues.   The only seats that were leather were burnt orange, black and brown.  White seats were never leather.    While at nats I wanted to purchase white leather seats as my RT/SE came originally with burnt orange interior.    The wife and I just couldnt live with this color interior.    I mean after you buy you gotta live with them.  Kinda like your kids, if their ugly they are still your children.    Something isnt right despite the fender tag the interior trim code of HRX .....I dont remember the last number.    My car was purchased from a guy who bought the car simply to resell.  It went thru 2 owners who had good intentions on restoring but somehow never got alot accomplished.    I checked and my rear panels dont have the cut outs for the ashtrays.    Therefore I can conclude the rear panels may have been misplaced.    I gonna call my contact as he gave me lots of extra parts and he may have inadvertantly kept the SE rear panels that have the ashtrays.    I am not surprised as my car hasnt been licensed since 1997.    It was at one time painted from gomango to red to black and the last nitwit painted a little of it limelite green to see if he liked it.

My fender tag reads as follows...........*** and I need a little help in deciphering a little bit of it.***

N95   NOX exhaust emission control          its a California built car that spent its life in Las Vegas
R11   Music master FM                 You would think an SE car would have had a AM/FM

V5X   ??????             This one I need help with.   Was it side moldings????????
26     26 inch radiator
M21   roof drip rail moldings

H51   Air conditioning...................yippee
J25    3 speed variable wipers
A01   Light package

Where does it say they are white?  HRX9 is black.

V5X is black body side moldings
A05 is the body side moldings, door edge protectors and front and rear bumper guards with rubber inserts.
035805 is the VON.
