Undercoating type?
« on: September 30, 2005 - 03:15:03 PM »
Can anyone recomend an undercoating or bedliner type to use. I'm using it on the inner trunk side of the rear quarter panel. The original coating had a thick and rough texture which I would like to duplicate.

Have you thought of using Trunk Paint. I've seen rattle cans of the stuff sold in auto parts store. Textured and everything. Never used it myself though.

The surface of the innerside of the rear quarters is like the undercoating used in the wheelwells. Very thick, rattle cans can't spray that heavy.

I found something that will work for me. Using Wurth brand sprayable seam sealer and a seam sealer gun. It sprays on a nice texture and covers up the lap joint weld nicely.

That lizard skin sound proofing looks interesting. I wonder why they dont show what the finished surface looks like after it is applied.

When I get a chance to snap a picture of it on my car, I'll post it. It looks just like undercoating. It has the same texture but if you wanted to, you could sand it smooth and paint it. I like it because of the sound deadning and the moisture bearer. I have my whole underbody done with it.

If I remember right (been awhile) it's around $190.00 to $200.00 for a 2 gallon jug. The guy that I bought mine off of gave me a deal because mine was on of the first cars he had done and was going to use it for publicity.

That looks really nice Shartar!    Can I ask why the frame rails aren't coated also?
