    You remember when mopars were a dime a dozen?

    Luckily, i dont.

    If i did, i would be kicking myself for not gettin heaps of them.

    So lets celebrate this by posting ads from old car magazines showing mopars for outraegously low prices (by todays standards).

    Dad had a 429 powerd comet, he paid 500$ for it in 78, and sold it when we moved to Alaska for 900$

    Yeah, a 429 comet.

    Gramps still has a 57 300C convertible, hemi powerd, black, in perfect origonal condition, he paid 1500$ I think, and it is worth over 200,000$ now.

    Ya,for $3500 and $2300!!! I took a loan out for $2500 to buy a muscle car and bought my Barracuda for $1000 so I`d have the other $1500 to restore it,if I only knew Superbirds would be worth over 100k now.

    I was there....passed on some NICE cars back then...but they were just used cars back in the day.

    Not to mention the ones i did own and sold....LOL

    Hey, one thing to bear in mind as we all look at those low prices and cry:  Inflation in general has put another zero behind EVERY price on our shopping lists...

    Heck, weren't Cokes out of a vending machine 35cents back then?  Now it's, what, $1.50?  How much was a decent new car back then?  Maybe $11k?

    It makes me feel better to just put another zero behind all those fifteen year-old prices to put them in perspective.  In other words, these days, coming up with $2300 to buy a car is a lot easier than it was back then.  Back then, it would have been more like coming up with $23,000.

    Still, if anybody has a time machine big enough to hold a roll-back truck, I'd like to borrow it!

    Even with inflation, 23k is still pretty cheap for a superbird.

    Hmmm...maybe if I can get the flux capacitor working in the DeLorean, all of us can chip in with todays $, I can go back in time to 1971, buy up a bunch of Hemi cars, store them in a barn, then we can sell them to the highest bid at Barrette-Jackson next year.

    But where can I find some Plutonium.......hmmmm....

    The cool thing is not only the price, but a lot of these cars you just don't see for sale anymore or rarely do.
