New member- 70 Hemicuda
« on: October 04, 2005 - 06:21:16 PM »
Hi: Just joined the list. I live in the Atlanta area.  I bought a 70 black Hemicuda from Carlisle in 1996, which I am trying to retore as original as possible. Unfortunately, the original motor is gone, but it has a correct vintage 71 hemi block with somebody else's VIN # on it. But it's a real triple black Hemi coupe- Torqueflight with buckets, console, stereo radio and PDBrakes. I found the build sheet behind the back seat. Wish it was a PS car (Try steering a Hemi anything with manual steering at low speed sometime!)  No pictures yet.

Interested in talking to folks who are into original restoration on their cars. I've done a fair amount of restoration, but right now I'm looking for an original electric windshield washer pump for a 70 E-Body. But maybe I am supposed to post that somewhere else. (?)

Hi Charles... Welcome to the forum!  I am fairly new here myself, having arrived as a refugee when the Dodge-Charger forum went down.

I definitely like Triple Black cars!!!... I have a Triple Black 1968 Hemi Charger R/T, a Limelight 1970 Hemi 'Cuda, and some other MoPars.

BTW, a friend of mine has a black 1970 Hemi 'Cuda with a red interior... stunningly beautiful car!!!

Post pictures of your car when you get them!

XS: No, it is a stripe delete car. I think most black Cudas were optioned that way for obvious reasons. I put aftermarket Year One rally wheels on it before I took the back seat back off and found the build sheet. It came factory with dog dishes. I am tempted to put it back that way. Hmmmmm!

cooda,
I guess you've already found the oem style washer pump that has the ground lead attached is tough to get. If you have an original Jerry Schmit in Florida can restore it to look like new. Sorry but I do not have any recent contact info for him. His company is Concourse Creations.

I have a stock 1970 Challenger restored to OEM pure stock standards right down to the date coded plug wires and have the resources to answer almost any question you may come up with should I not be able to  answer it myself.
I also sell detail restoration parts/supplies on my own site at www.amhightechauto.com

Cooda. We want PICS!! Your car is really "A mother of all the muscle cars". Here is a pic I took this year Mopar Nats in Columbus, it`s a 440-6 but enjoy anyway.

GTX6970: Thanks for that information. There is a black aftermarket washer pump available for sale pretty cheap I think, and Year One sells a "New Chrysler" one for about $40- it is white like the original, but not quite original. I would think every Mopar from 4-door Chryslers on down would use the same pump. No? Why are they so scarce?

I am going to get Concours Creations to redo my original wiper motor. Roger Gibson uses him and I think he is pretty good at correctly redoing restoration parts. Any ideas on shopping for an original pump? I'll pay a little more, but not really stupid money.

Pictures of the Hemicuda. Sorry for the quality, but there was a little too much glare. My camera is old like the car- 35mm.
