I didn’t make as much progress as I wanted to, but I got the rear floor patched in.  I also replaced a piece of metal in the inner rocker where the seat frame attaches.  I put on the new leaf springs, shackles and forward spring mounts and got it back on all fours.  I wanted it mobile just in case my family decided to “Foose my ride” while I am gone.

That made me laugh sooooo hard!

Nice job so far with the metal work.  You are my hero!  I would give anything to learn how to what you have done.  Maybe someday.  Keep up the good work!

Are you kidding?

You're going to have your car done before I even get to mount my Go-Wing!

Awesome job and great pics!  This task you're taking on is not for the faint hearted and you're doing a great job!

And so it begins...

The first thing that I needed to address was the roof.  It looked pretty bad, but it was light surface rust and  the only soft spots were near the seam on the sail panel.  After a lot of grinding and some of Eastwoods rust neutralizer it looked decent.  I gave it a quick spray-can coat of primer to hold it for now.

Just a thought for you,Primer's are porous and will let moisture pass thru,Unless you use a primer/sealer/etcher all in one(Great stuff, look at my Sig for Pics on my project Gran Coupe)) like Valpar 2k primer sealer.I am sure a local Valspar dealer could put some in a rattle car for you or buy a gallon and spray it yourself. You will be much happier and safer to your metal,my 2 cents worth

Well, much to my neighbors dismay, I have started working on my car again.  But before I started anything I welded up a little cart for my welder.  It is so much easier to wheel everything around!

I have ordered both rear frame rail replacements and trunk panels from Sherman.  Today I was working on some metal to connect everything up with the frame piece that I fabricated a couple of months ago.  When I tackle the left side I’ll fabricate one solid piece down to the forward spring mount.

I got the tail lights off and put the back end up in the air again.  It’s at just about the right height to sit on the floor and comfortably work on stuff now.

An this will come in handy for all the little things I’ll have to fabricate/replace along the way.  Thanks Santa Claus!

Luckily I’m unemployed right now (yeesh!) so I’ll be able to put in some good solid days of work on it.  Stay tuned!

Kyle

P.S.  Thanks moparnut for the tip on the primer/sealer.  I’ve picked up a couple of cans.

Kyle, you are teaching many of us something about metal work, but also where there's a will, there's a way. Plus determination and confidence! Please keep the pictures coming as you go, these are my favorite kind of threads.
Thanks, P6P

My hats off to you!  Great work you are doing here...this isn't a restoration or restification, it's a resurrection!

I gotta admit when I see this kind of project it's humbling.
Suddenly my "big" problems with my Challenger are more like anoyances.
That said, for whatever reason; when you can't drive your car  :pullinghair:
Anyways....Keep up the good work
