    Keep at it Kyle, your car has to be one of the longest running restorations....I feel for you mate because you don't get solid amounts of time to get stuck into your restoration. When did you get back from DEEP South?  :cheers:

    This thread reminds me why it has taken me 5 years to restore my 70 Cuda. Keep the pictures coming as this is a great way to see how you can bring one of these cars back to life if you want to.

    The next pictures he probably posts are pictures of the car getting painted and him putting it together.  My god you work fast.  So for $20 could you give me some of your work ethic and determination?

    Carl, I got back from the South island (the main land?) on March 4th.  I didn’t make it up to the North island at all.  I spent three weeks there and I still didn’t have enough time to see and do everything that I wanted.  All I can say is, that is one beautiful country!    :nzflag:


    Thanks for the encouragement everyone!  Even though I still don’t have a job yet, things keep coming up that keep me from working on the car.  I haven’t made as much progress as I though I would, but I’ve got some momentum built up and I hope to have trunk floors in and the drivers side frame replaced soon.  I ordered the frame cap for the front half of the rear frame from Auto Rust Technicians and that will get me speeding along a lot quicker than if I tried to fabricate my own again.  As of today I have the passenger side frame all in and welded solid.  I also fabricated a rear cross member and then cleaned up the rear shock x-member.  I slapped a coat of primer on everything, and once I get that aforementioned frame cap I’ll be ready to weld it all in!

    Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, and from the photos got out and got stuck into some true Kiwi adrenaline sports! Did you do the Bungee in the home of Bungee? Shot Over jet? Looks like a nice day was had....

    Nope, the North Island is the main island. More City, beach and sun. South is more rugged, snowy, cliffs, mountains etc....but both Islands share the same stuff, just more of it in each.

    Good to hear your car is going to be coming along soon, must be about time you changed you signature photo? LOL
    Been that way for years, literally.  :lol:

    And I thought that I have dealt with a lot of rust between my Challenger and my 'cuda. That is impressive!! Major props to you! Keep up the good work!

    how are you Kyle?when i saw this post last night i thought i was looking at my challenger,they must be brothers or found in the same lake together.very nice work you are doing,I am curious about the sheetmetal brake is that the one from northern tools that can bend 14 guage steel if so have you used it much yet.the reason im asking is that i bought a small brake but its not capable of the work i want to do and im thinking of buying one like you have.oh ya keep the photos comming its good to see im not the only crazy person out there,heres a photo of my love and joy will update soon.thanks---------the moparclown

    I kind of thought about bungee jumping, but running off of a cliff to do the paragliding was enough excitement for me!  What is the shot over jet?  While down south I also sea kayaked at Able Tasman, went on a horse trek on the beach, and toured both the Cadbury chocolate factory and the Speights brewery in Dunedin.   :eek4:  After that last one I quickly went out and drank a DB.   I also saw the pancake rocks and Fox glacier.

    It is a Handler 140.  So far it has worked pretty well for me.  I am an amateur and this is the first welder I have owned.

    I got my break from Harbor Freight.  It is the 36” model and it cost about $200.  I haven’t used it a whole bunch, but I think that it will be adequate for all I am doing on my project.  The other day I tried to bend a 30” wide piece of 16 gauge and it barely did it.  It was definitely  a bit much for it.  It might bend a 14 gauge piece of metal, but it would have to be less than 30" wide for sure.  I think that our cars must be separated twins!  You have some serious metal work ahead of you.  Be sure to post progress pics so I can keep track on how your coming along.  We will have to race...  to see who goes broke or insane first.   :rofl:
