..continued...

Fabricating the roof gutter was a major PITA!  After I finished it I confirmerd that my trim bolts up sung and looks good.

I'm still not quite done with this area, but it is the last little bit to do before I can hang the quarter for good.

:worshippy Amazing work! Your cpillars look the same as mine did. It's really frustrating to tear up a good roof to get access into the rusted areas beneath. Keep it going!

Kyle,

I saw some of the pics in your post. I commend your effort and enthusiasm. Take it from me, a roof job is pretty sensitive.

I have a roof structure carcass with a ton of good stuff left over. It might be easier to use  some replacement metal rather than fab it yourself.

Here are some pics of what I have leftover:

Let me know if this can help you out.

Nice to see cars being done THE RIGHT WAY.  Unlike in the '80s where 1/2" of mud was all it took to perfume a pig.

Damn Cuda Wuda, that looks just like mine!  I feel your pain!

Chucks71, with my angle grinder I use a real thin cut-off disk at a 90 degree angle and then smooth everything out with a 80 grit flap disk.  I use the cut-off to pinpoint the stuff I want to remove.  The small edge is great for removing any hump left over from the welds.  That is the single most important thing I discovered while messing around with my grinder.  I had been using a regular grinding disk but it wouldn’t take the excess weld off very evenly and it seemed to really heat up the metal to the point of warping most everything I tried to grind.  If I had found the way to do this when I first started out I would have saved myself tons of work.  Here are my weapons of choice:

Here are some more “after” pics of that area that I hadn’t posted yet.

And here is a partial repair of the door sill.

I’ve done a bunch more work that I’ll post pics on later.  Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Kyle
