Where can I find a Good front valance for a 'Cuda
« on: October 22, 2002 - 05:21:01 AM »
 >:( Does anybody know where a guy can buy a good front valance for a '74 'Cuda? My original one was trashed and the reproduction one I bought is a P.O.S. I also bought a new Chrysler Lower valance insert and I have been tring to get it to fit for hours now. I just give up it ain't even close. Does anybody know if the fiberglass ones are any good?? does that Valance insert fit well in these or I also seen one made of ABS plastic somewhere, or any good sheetmetal ones. I thought about getting one out of Year-one but I am afraid that I will buy another P.O.S. I do not want to keep wasting $140 to $160 bucks a shot for junk. If any of have boughten one recently that was a good fit with little to no alterations please let me know where I can purchase one. This one is horrible.. :-X  :'(  >:(
Thanks  Steve

I'm sorry you're not having much luck with your valance.  Tell us where you got this horrible one from...save us all from living through this mess.

It came from Jims Auto Parts. I am not saying in any way Jims Auto Parts is bad, I have gotten lots of good things from them too. I got the rear valance from them and it is good. I never called back to complain. It never does me any good. Plus it has marks on it now where I have been trying to get it to fit the insert, the whole inner edge had to be bent down for it even start to fit. Plus where I had to hit it with the body hammer to pound a mounting bracket down because it was spotwelded in the wrong spot and it did not clear the valance insert.  I know it is not the insert it is a new Chrysler part. So I could not return it if I even wanted too. Oh well it is not the first time I took it in the shorts and I'm sure it won't be the last. The last 2 Big Blocks I have bought (supposed to be good) both were bad. A 1973 400ci, 2 spun rods and a trashed crankshaft, and a 1970 440ci, just 1 spun rod maybe savagable crank. JJJeessshhh!!!! I just need one Big Block that runs for now. No luck finding one or they want a fortune for a 1975 440.

If it were'nt for bad luck I would have no luck at all !! :o

??? So does anybody know where I can buy a proven good front valance. And does anybody know if the fiberglass ones fits good, they look pretty good. I am not going for the O.E.M original look so it will not matter if it is sheet metal or fiberglass to me. I just need one that fits nice and the lower valance insert will also fit nice. This one does not fit nice. This one fits bad, that is why it is going up in the garage ceiling with the rest of the junk. :D

Fun ! Fun ! Fun ! :)
Thanks
Steve

Have you tried http://www.shermanparts.com/ or http://www.rustrepair.com/

For fiberglass give http://www.usbody.com/ a look.

I have a fiberglass front valance for my 70 cuda, quality looks ok (its not on the car), but I've never tried to line it up.

Good luck. :-\

I am pretty sure I still have an extra.  The brackets need to be rewelded for the plastic valance, but it is an original 1970 piece.  Email me if you are interested. I am from Canada so shipping costs may be a concern
