71 barracuda available to me
« on: October 14, 2005 - 04:44:20 PM »
Not a real earth shattering car, but interesting none the less.  The man that I bought my 73 barracuda has a 71 barracuda that he said he would get rid of.  He says its a parts car.  The body on the car is strait, but it has floor rot and wheels have well rot.  It is a 318 auto on the column AC car with the original motor.  Has decent interior such as door panels and whatnot.  The glass is good.  Not really sure about the inner fenders or cowl.  And of course it is missing the grill; also the dash pad and guage cluster are gone.  He wants 500 dollars for the car.  My parents have a barn upstate that I could probably stash it away in.  Any thoughts?

I'd say go for it. $500 bucks is a great buy. I've seen a 71 barracuda with no floors, trunk or frame sell for $7,000!

If you're reading this and havn't bought the car yet, then stop reading and go buy that barracuda.  Nothing would keep me from spending 500 on a somewhat complete 70-71 ebody.

If it was me, I'd already be sitting in it making a list of everything I'll need to hunt down at the next few swap meets. Why can't I find these deals near me? I'd have no problem spending $500.00 for one of the best looking Mopars ever made!

Yea I am gonna go take another look at it.  Its just citing out on the street in NYC.  I might see about picking it up and taking a few parts I need off it and flipping it on Ebay.  See if I could make a few quick easy dollars with it to put towards my 73 barracuda and 71 challenger.  Your probably right cooda.  A set of door and rear panels, mag 500s, ac setup and 71 seat belts have to be worth 500 bucks.

Does it have all the original A/C stuff? Isn't that stuff hard to find for these Cudas?

Alright I went to take a look at the barracuda today to take a good assessment of what it all has.  The body is pretty rough.  The quarter have rust up around the wheel well lip so it would need new quarters.  One door has bad dent and the other is workable with rust at the bottom.  The rockers have rust.  The roof and filler panel are decent.  The flat hood is good.  One fender is really nice.  The other is rough but workable.  The truck floor is good, but the last couple of inches of the rear rails are a little soft.  The rear floor pan has some rust holes.  I dont know about the cowel or inner fenders.  It is missing the grill, front bumper, the entire dash including the wiring harness and ac unit rear interior panels, back seat.  The good is it has a steering column with a black 71 wheel, to good door panels, front bench seat, has all good glass that is factory tinted, most of the window trim is good, has good tail lights, a real good fender, a complete 318 with the under hood AC stuff, good header panel, good mag 500s.  Thats all I can think of for now.  Let me hear your thoughts
