Ok um I am the only one in my family that has a remote intrest in Mopars, so I am sort of a cross breed of chevy and Mopar. I am not one of the guys from the mustang haters site but I hate all fords with a passion. We arent  rich familt but my dad has been racing since he was 17(now 55). I recently "acquired" a 68 dart with a 440 and have been learning with that. Did the 68 dart come with a 440 because the farmer I got it from told me it was the stock 440.

if its is an original 440 dart it is a mr norms gss special!! i seriously dought it is original it may be stock but that doesnt mean it came out of that car!! check your vin numbers on the dash!! the 5th digit number is the engine code!! in 68 a-c was a slant 6 , d was a 273, f was a 318 g was a 383

h was a 383 4v   j was a hemi! if its a lo23j code car your a lucky bastard!!! and a l was a 440!   p was  340  thats all the engine codes for 68!!

As for the VINs there are many MANY places to get them decoded.
If you post them up here I or one of the members will decode them for you.
