Fitting a 10" wheels under the rearend on Challenger
« on: October 18, 2005 - 03:20:53 PM »
Fitting a 10" wheels under the rearend on Challenger, Is this possible without cutting sheetmetal, or changing the location of springs with a standard E-body lengt rear housing, if it is what backspace do them wheels need to be.

If not, is it possible with a B-body rearend housing (a little shorter) and again without cutting sheetmetal, or changing the location of springs, and again what would be the  backspace for them wheels.

I am positive that this 10" wheel setup is possible but just wanted to do it with as a little hassle as possible and order the correct backspace on the wheels.

If not, please inform how is the best way. Thanks

Here are two links discussing the B-body setup.. I think it's a no brainer because your just wasting the inner wheelwells space in the stock suspension

Both ideas work pretty well, I like the mancini setup personally

Right..

That requires cutting off the stock spring perches and welding on new ones. It is better to use the B-body rear for several reasons. Wheels sizes are easier to find, you can keep your original rear in case you want to change back, the longer the space between the spring perch and the axle flange the easier the axle tube will bend under extreme acceleration (don't ask me how I know that)

The main reason to me is the thing is just so slick. Cheap brackets and the most common rearend housing,
What could be better?
