Flip top gas cap conversion
« on: October 24, 2005 - 11:31:09 AM »
Anyone convert from standard gas cap to flip top?  Any difficulties doing so?  What do I need besides cap to do it?

Thanks,
Dan

All you need is the gas cap and trim ring, there is nothing special about this coversion.....just four screws and you're done.

One note Killer_Mopar forgot.  It'll cost you about $295.00 for a NOS one....Probably $195.00 for the repro.  Other than that, Killer covered the answer.

You will also need a small gas cap to fit under the flip top. The factory provided locking caps with the flip top but they are far and few and expensive to fine..

I purchased an original off of E-bay ( $125.00) that will need to be re-chromed. Nu-Chrome without seeing it says about $150 to re-chrome and they will dis-assemble and re-assemble which will save me from trying to drive out those pins. My car at one time must have had a Flip top because I found a key for the locking gas cap in the glovebox.

I just bought the repo cap and bezel from YO for 130.00.  And I found a locking cap on Rockauto for 13.00.
