NZ, you'd really please some people in the states with your prices. ;)  I'd have to say expect $3,000-$5,500 max for a 318 car needing a restoration. (of course excluding '70-'71 convertibles.)  Mine was solid, but needed a complete resto. and the owner was asking $2,000.00 nearly three years ago.

That's why I put depending.... I'm bang in the middle or your price range. Yours is $3 - $5,500 - Mine is $4K. :-)
$7,000 IMO is if it was a solid car needing minor TLC.....i
It's still easy for someone to tidy it up quickly drop in a 440 and have one hell of a car for under $8,000.

Yeah, I know what you meant.  Maybe if toplescuda could get some pics we could help him out sooner with an appropriate price tag for this car. :???:

Good luck to you.  I hope the guy sells.  I bet he will want more than the $1400 though...but then again, you never know.  It is always worth trying.

I got my 73 barracuda in 2003 for 1300 dollars.  It was pretty rough looking though, but it was complete and fairly solid.  It is pretty much the same thing 318 2 brl, but mine has a 3 spd stick and console.  If it is an older person that isnt involved with the hobby he might not know that even 318 cars go for a lot of money now.  Thats how it was for me.

Hey look!  It's got side exiting exhaust.  Do Ya think it was one of those '73 AAR convertibles?  LOL!  Looks real easy to get to the rear speakers!

1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

But seriously, MoparMatt, go for it.  See what the guy will take for an offer.  I know it's a Challenger I'm talking about and not a Barracuda, but I got my '72 Challenger Rallye 340 in 2003 in decent shape for $4K.  It's definately a driver and not a show car but I feel I got a good deal on it.

Offer him what you got.  He might be willing to help out a fellow Mopar enthusiast and drop his price.  You never know....
