drive shaft prob
« on: October 24, 2005 - 06:55:35 PM »
i swapped a slant six setup last year from a 70 challenger with a 8 1/4 rear end. i put in a 360 with a 727 and kept the rear end. the drive shaft still fit so when i blew the old rear end i bought this nice posi 8 3/4 rear end of a 70 cuda. now the drive shaft wont fir. its off by an inch. i thought all mopar driveshafts were interchangable within its own body style? what measurements do i need to cut the drive shaft. oh yea. its a inch too long.

the diff is longer so the shaft has to be shorter , have the shaft shortened & rebalanced approx 1" shorter , you do need a little extra both to get the shaft into the car & to allow lenght changes as the suspension moves so make sure you accout for that
