Stock or Custom ???
« on: October 25, 2005 - 10:04:18 AM »
I have a 1968 Cuda (Vin # BH29F8B351567) that I'm getting ready to restore.I checked the car out and did some resurch and found out that the car is all original. It only has 75,000 miles in it and the only major thing wrong with it is left rear section of the body. When my wife bought the car for me (I'm stuck in Iraq and she's awsome)it came with a parts car.Another 1968 Cuda with no hood, engine, trans, and missing some of the front suspension.Should I keep the car the way it is and restore it to factory specs or should I go all out and convert to disk brakes, bigger engine, custom suspension, ect.????

It all really depends on what you want. Being a 318 (230hp) car you won't gain too much as a future investment.
I myself would drop either a 340 or 440 paint it black it turn it into a SSAA Super Stock Barracuda.

Like NZ said it`s only a base 318 Barracuda so I would do up a nice small block and have some fun with it.

Would be really cool to make the body and interior as stock looking and beef up the drive train and brakes/suspension so the things runs like a more modern car but has the integrity of an oldy but goody.

I'd have fun with it, build it how you want it, you'll enjoy it alot more that way.

Make a killer machine out of it! I have a 70 numbers matching Satellite that I'm going to build how I want, tell me who's searching for a numbers matching 68 318 Barracuda? You could get more out of it like the picture NZ posted than bone stock and in perfect condition IMO.

Thanks for serving, you are awesome too!!

If it were up to me, I would restore both, one stock, the other modified.

Wish I'd have filled out an order for one of those back then!! I was probably just a little young to order one of those but was old enough to buy a 71 Hemi Cuda if I would have had my head on straight, instead I bought a new 72 Gold Duster slant 6 4 speed, lemon twist with the black landaue vinyl roof. $2612.50, still remember that amount, was a lot of money back then!! Wish I could even have that one back!
