Challenger Front Bumper Guards - Yes or No?
« on: October 25, 2005 - 03:27:03 PM »

I've been thinking, do you guys think I should put front bumper guards on Lucy?
I like the look without a little better, but some cars also look good with them, ads a little something to the front end.

What do you guys think, do you like them? Do they install over the bumper or do I need a special bumper to attach them?

Cheers,
Carl

NZ,
They install over the bumper. I put them on my car. I just like the look better, but I suppose most don't have them since this is a tough item to get.

That car has such smooth lines. I'd put the bumper guards on the garage shelf.

I would say don't do it. I just don't like the way it breaks up that sweeping line across the front of the car. My eye is drawn to the bumper guards and I miss the beauty of that 70 grill work

The bumpers are beautiful all by themselves!  I say leave them off.

Mike...don't tell me you're gonna be swayed by popular opinion!! j/k Mike! You're car looks great just the way it is.

Come to think of it...I don't know why I have them on the rear bumber and not on the front bumper....now I'm scratching MY little old head...

Thanks everyone.

I have always been in favor of without front guards just wanted your opinions.
You make some good points about detracting from the grille section, it does a little.

Rev - Good point, I also have them on the rear but they look superb on the back IMO.

Mike - LOL!!! Don't worry mate they suit your car bud, maybe it's just that the White does the talking for the bumperettes.

I have always been a fan of putting any option available within reason that came on the car if I had them.........this was a good question as I was also thinking of adding them to my front bumper.   But a previous post was correct in noting the lines looks look better across the front of the car without them.

I am convinced now to leave them off.....

Good question NZ, A white car like yours will look better without them. Darker colored cars look OK with them. Such as MEK's car or my car both have them and you hardly notice them, because of the dark color of the car. They really stand out on a light colored car, like yours. Definately leave them off.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Lumpy - True they do suit the darker colors, probably up to Plum Crazy anything lighter looks a little odd to me. :-)

NZ, I'd have to say it looks better without them on. (IMHO)

I like it both ways but I do prefer the bumper guards on darker colored cars more.  My friend has a beautiful 70 Plum Crazy Challenger and he has the bumper guards in front and it looks better with them.  It must be a color thing.  I say on your car leave them off (unless you decide to paint it a dark color someday...LOL).

Thanks April, I will be leaving them off. :-)

I guess it isn't too hard to install and remove them anyway, but I want Lucy coming out of the resto complete.
Nothing to change ready to drive. :-) Yehaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!! Not long now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
