Axle bearing collars
« on: October 27, 2005 - 07:29:11 PM »
Who (retail) sells the axle shaft bearing collars (retainers) for the 8 3/4" axles?  My Mopar parts book ('72) tells me they are part of a service package but he part number given is invalid.  I really don't need a "kit" with bearings anyway, just the collars.

Huh, guess nobody sells them anymore...
Will they come off the axle without having to cut them, and be reused?

Man, that rots.
So, you can buy new axles, new bearings for those new axles, but the retainers for said bearings are no longer in production?  Makes no sense.

I'm I missing a point here, is there some aftermarket product that now retains those roller bearings?

I have seen those "green bearing" setups but I don't trust ball bearings on the highway, not unless it was without curves.

Thanks for trying.

Hi MrBill426,
Check this site,  www.gearsandrears.com    maybe these guys have what your looking
for. Another source might be Dr. Diff who rebuilds/modifys axles, but I can't find his web
address right now. Goodluck, Jeff

Thanks, Jeff, I'll look them up.  SOMEBODY has them, or I guess the 8 3/4 axle is not rebuildable without those "green bearings.

Bill
