1959 - the year Alaska and Hawaii became part of the US. Also the first Grammy's were awarded
1st car drove (legally) dodge polara station wagon. Man, THAT was a chick magnet.
But hard not to feel old when you're teaching 12 -14 year olds guitar and they ask "Can you teach me some oldies? like from from Styx or Kansas?"
OK Chris,
Let's talk chick magnet cars. I learned to drive in a 71 Dodge Crestwood station wagon. It was gold with the fake wood panels all around. My Dad bought it around 74-75, and the woodgrain had already begun to fade BADLY.
Stick with me here... a couple of years later my Mother got T-Boned at an intersection. So they replace the back door, and rear quarter panel on the driver's side with new woodgrain panel. Use your imagination, has this car not gotten hideous by now???
So needless to say, "cruising for chicks" was not something I ever became good at.
