Value of parts?
« on: October 29, 2005 - 05:33:48 PM »
Hello Everybody,
In the past few days I have collected and photographed boxes of old parts that were collected from various storage places.  I thought I read somewhere that a horn could sell for $200 is this accurate?  Also, is there anyone who has a good estimate of the value of some of the other parts seen in the pics.  I may be willing to part with some if I am convinced I could get a good price for it.  All parts were taken off a '72 318 Barracuda, except for the hood mounted turn signals (not sure where they came from).  The emblems I bought at a shop in Detroit called RTS back in the late 70's (the one is still in its original mopar packaging).
Cheers
Mike

As far as the horns go I hope they don't sell for as much as $200.00. I have seen them for as little as $20 up to $75.00 all on condition.

Besides the emblems and the old Rapid Transit poster, I'd say the rest would vary in price according to their conditions.  I see the taillight lenses are in nice shape, while the chrome racing mirrors need to be rechromed so it all depends on what potential buyers are specifically looking for.  I'd say your best bet is to stick them all on eBay with a fair starting price and let the bidding wars begin.  Good luck!

Hello all
I found so much stuff today that I thought was long gone.!
I was wondering what would be a better option to have  my car restored, at least back to a road safetied condition.get a couple of years enjoyment out of it and then sell.(when DC lauches the new e bodies) Or try to purchase a southern car from a interesting webite autabuy. They had awesome cudas/challengers ranging in price from 20k all the way up to 100,000. (yikes!)
Are these cars what they say they are? Are reproduction parts available for restoration projects?
I am not sure what it would cost to resurrect mine. It hasn't ran since 96.
The box with the emblems I thought just got lost over the years as I have tried to find it before. I definetly have more parts than I need for my own car, with doubles. Also alot of parts I can't even remember what they are. I will post pics so maybe someone could tell me if its worth keeping. I should probably sell some stuff at least to get another computer, to enjoy this site more. Perhaps I could help someone with an active project as I will probably cover mine up for another winter until I decide what to do.(I really wish I had a garage). I may get some estimates but not sure yet.
I feel if I wait much longer I wouldn't be able to get in and out of the car. lol
Carlisle really looks like mopar heaven, by the way. How long a drive would it be from Detroit?
I envy you guys/gals.
What should I do to stabalize the surface rust on my car as it is.(treat me like I know nothing) as basically I don't, but you have to start somewhere.I will post another pic. Its just that the knucle busting work is over for me. I have really slept on this one but stuff happens.

I will post more pics I took today.
cheers
Mike

I would be interested in the mirrors.

What parts do you have for a 1970 Barracuda?

Although I cannot answer all your questions this time, I do know if you want to have a great time in the beginning of July, you should try to make it out to Carlisle!  As for coming from Detroit, I come all the way from Northeastern Wisconsin (Florence to be exact), travel down to the Chicago area, then take off towards Howell, MI to meet up with the fellow board members from the Lower Peninsula of MI.  It's approximately a 12-14 hour drive from Chicago, so expect around 9-10 from the Detroit area.  As for reproduction parts for these E-bodies, the parts currently being produced are limited and more often than not you end up resorting to original parts just from the lack of companies that reproduce them.  However, I strongly feel that you'd be making a mistake to not restore your car because even with the reintroduction of the Challenger in the near future, these cars will always hold a higher value than most other muscle cars.

Do you have the front finder emblems for the barracuda or the tail panel emblem?  I thought that was what was in one of your pictures.
